I thought they all had day cabs. Who’d want to sleep with that much fuel behind you.

You might be better off sleeping with it loaded rather than empty, ask the experts…

God so much ■■■■■■■■■ in this thread.

How do I know this, because I do it!!

I just wonder why they make such a big deal about operating fuel tankers, seems to me like there’s a load of bs in your industry…

A lot of the bs comes from people who have never done it. Fact. It’s not a mega hard specialisation to get into either, although it is a specialised driving job. I have tried in the past to get you into pimp. Where do you live again? If it’s near a depot or reasonable distance I will get you a start. Might even be me training you;)

I know it’s not mega hard, maybe people make out it is in order to demand/maintain higher remuneration, I don’t know. There’s also some bs from those working in certain outfits looking down upon others, thinking that they’re better/superior trained etc. I don’t think you’d want to train me mate, my attitude is so wrong apparently & I’d make you look bad or tarnish your reputation, thanks for the offer though[emoji16]

I see your point. I’m sure I have already weighed in on such a debate on this forum already. Attitudes can change mate. Everyone deserves a chance, up until the point they are unsafe. Offer is there, you know who I work for I what I think of them, love them!!

It’s all about payload , and there are lots of reasons why you will find company’s loading at the same rack will have a different Bol. Other than the vehicle weight and if a cargo pump is fitted, you will have things such as density of product , dosed or undosed, hot product, winter grade , summer grade. So it can vary from truck to truck and wether your loading at a refinary or terminal.

Every tanker I’ve come across has had legs. I used to load directly onto them parked up with the legs down. Always start at the leg end otherwise you end up with the legs 6 foot in the air and the arse end on the ground.

Never saw that happen! Never enough overhang on a tank trailer. Instead of looking at the legs, have a look at where the axles are next time you’re passing one.
