Is this AEC MK5 Mammoth Major still around and does anybody know if it was ex petrol company vehicle,Shell Mex and BP for instance,as they had several 8-leggers in that London C C number plate series.
Chris iirc Roy got it from Watsons scrap yard at stone complete with tree growing through it ,I think it was ex co-op ,and it’s still around .

Hiya …spot on Dan it was a milk tanker in London it found its way to Fauld dairy near Checkerly but as a wrecker it traveled to Watson’s
that,s just outside Stone Chris on the Rugerley road. Roy bought it and spent a fair amount on the cab panels but it wasn’t long after it was finished Roy got the big C. he went to the doctors had testes and the results said 3 months. i don’t think he made the time quoted,
a really good lad…exceptional mechanic…he run a tatty looking dressed up Scania on an old F reg. it seemed to go more like a centurion.
it might have been Roy was always doing upgrades.

i dont think he was 60 when IT got hold of him…he did have an AEC from that scrappy at Sheepcote lane near the Tinsley cafe
just off the motorway juction
this one also belonged to Roy, it’s still at pikehall and part way through being restored
In its customary position of going past whatever was in its way I notice. I went out in it with Don when it was still in Foden primer having just been delivered and crikey it did just move.
The driver is a bit blurry but he does seem to have a bit of RIgsby about him to me, in fact isn’t that his name above the ■■■■■■■ cross.
that has really made my day bonkey . that picture was on the cover of on of the truck magazines . i kept it for years and gave it to ron madden when i finished driving . it was taken because if you enlarge it and look at the windscreen it had britain’s finest truck on the sunstrip and that was the feature running in the magazine . it certainly went well limey , i picked up some of peakstones lads on a dodgy from leek and they were gobsmacked when it pulled up upper hulme at 32 tons at 20 mph . they had the erf with the gardeners then . the photo was taken after it was uprated to 38 tons and resprayed , on my way to sittingbourne with coal for the paper mill . cheers , dave
Passed a very smart fifteen year-old Foden 6 wheel tipper on the A50 this morning - N A Wood from Whatstandwell. A really nice-looking motor, obviously very well looked after and still earning it’s keep. A credit to Mr Wood - top marks!
(I assume that Pete (Windrush) knows this lorry?)

Nigel Wood is forum member ARMSTRONG Steve, and the lorry is Ex Smiths of Bletchingdon. There are several pics of it on here.
Pete.
