Just seen a job in our local paper for some one to do tachograph analysing. Pay was £6 to £8 pounds an hour. The top end of that is more than most class 1 drivers get round here!!.
Apply!
If you get it you can start the job and then say to the boss…
“Right I’ve analysed these tachos and I’ve found the drivers are running legal, but I’ve also found you are a tight fisted SOB”
ive a friend who drives for stobbies and at wakefield they have sorted out the wages and you get £7.20 ph on days ALL HOURS and on the notice board a job offer for cleaning the lorrys at £7.00 ph
hold ive still not finished laughing

L7.20ph translates to $13.61ph here
![]()
And I thought we had it bad
![]()
I wouldn’t consider turning the key for less than 22.50 per hour and at my current job the mileage rate translates to 24.60 per hour…
![]()
Not so bad here afterall
![]()
and NO tachograph[/b]
![]()
■■?£24.60 ph stateside
or £7.20 uk.
i know where id rather be ![]()
The pay in the UK is far more fair.
Over here you may get a good mileage rate but not getting paid for time spent doing ther work on most companies ■■■■■
I used to love clocking on at Tesco or Fed Ex when I worked there, waiting all ady in a canteen for a load, hanging the wait out to 10 hours for 2 hours at time and a half, then going home because I had not enough hours to do anything
I remember on Fed Ex one January me and my mate spent 3 weeks playing pool (coins provided by management) because there was no bulk work, we got 60 hours a week, 20 of which was at time and a half.
I was once supended by Fed Ex fro refusing to drive a rigid, the suspension lasted a week but because I worked 40 miles from home they gave me a company car to go home and bring back the following week, so I got the regulation average weekly wage and a free car, …
An extra weeks holiday to add to the other 6 weeks

Those rates are wrong JD. If my memory serves me correct (I have all the details in my truck) when I enquired on Monday it’s £7.50hr between 0600 and 1800, £8.50hr between 1800 and 0600. £3/day meal allowance (tax free), £20/night out money (tax free), £5/day attendance allowance (taxable). Can’t remember the weekend rates.
Driver’s on tramping there reckon they’re taking £450/week home on around 60hrs + 4 nights out.
