New driving laws this year, May 31st 2022 will see councils issuing £70 fines for pavement parking. :open_mouth:

“The laws around parking on pavements is just one of many new driving laws coming into effect this year, with road user safety at the forefront of each.”
From May 31, councils in England and Wales will be given new powers to fine motorists up to £70 for minor traffic offences including stopping in yellow box junctions and driving in cycle lanes" heart.co.uk/news/drivers…-fine-new-law/

Random tactical mass Sorn protests with VED refund claims for alternate months seems like a good way of retaliating. That will be 50% of VED and fuel revenues gone and massive administration costs for minimum usage effect.
So new 12 months tax followed by an 11 months refund claim every alternate month.
I’ll implement it when my new VED demand starts soon.I can manage with the bus every other month.

Are we headed for Japan’s approach to private car parking whereas you need ‘Proof of Parking’ before you can get a car registered?

But a car is generally used to go from home point A to another destination point B.
Which makes parking restrictions moot.
Although off-street parking at home would obviously be a prerequisite for any Sorn protest tactic to work.

No, cars are generally not used at all (i.e. they spend well over 95% of their life parked up and not going anywhere). Having somewhere to park the thing is essential - either that or a fundamental shift away from car ownership to some form of on-demand car sharing/rental for utility purposes. Enthusiast/hobby type ownership should 100% require access to adequate off-street parking facilities.
