PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION (Part 1)

DEANB:
Possibly one of LCM’s DAF’s from Sturminster Marshall.

9

Elliotts Transport from Poole. Think the MAN was taken in there yard.

8

Anyone know where Stokes Transport’s yard was in Poole ■■

7

There must have been an awful lot of cheap blue paint about in the 70s & 80s a yet another random blue tipper ■■?

6

A classic shot taken when The Holes Bay road was being built. I imagine the old Albion was an owner driver. One of Stretch Transports
F7 on the weighbridge behind and a Wimpey Ford D series on the right, well part of one.

5

Anyone recognise the well used ERF just arriving in Poole ■■ Looks like the bumper has been repaired and been [zb] again ! :unamused:
The Ford D series of Country Eggs cant get any closer ,accident waiting to happen.

4

Powys Transport DAF which looking at the mirror i assume moved caravans ■■

3

Anyone know where the Steel Bar & Sections ERF was from ■■ Thats some bumper on the front. Calor Gas and Henleys sometimes fitted
those bumpers on ERF’s.

2

Anyone recognise the Crusader seen at the Great Dorset Steam Fair ■■ Looks like an early Transit behind.

1

Not had a S&D Adam motor on before. Says International Transport on the front, anyone know anything about them ■■

Hello DEAN ,yes Powys Transport were caravan transporters from Buttington nr Welshpool ,they also had tippers as well ,but finished several years ago ,the caravan side taken over by Vrynwy caravans from Llansantfraid ,thank you Trevor

vwvanman0:
The blue erf (with the wonky bumper) driver is truly living the dream, ■■■■■■■ engine, sleeper cab, airhorn, wheel trims, cb aerial, tir plate and lots of stickers.

What a great photo.

Keep them coming please Dean.

Steve

Was thinking the same. Shame about the r+s though

DEANB:
Carrying on with the road building and Fleetsbridge roundabout and flyover.

The road that exits the roundabout in the direction of Creekmoor and Upton rises up hill and over a bridge that the railway used to run
underneath.Today a road runs under it which goes past the retail park on the RHS and joins the Holes Bay road.

This is what the concrete bridge looks like today carring the dual carrigeway that connects to the flyover over the roundabout.

Click on photos for a sharper pic.

Some more classic cars in this shot. Look how narrow the tyres are on these cars ?

The car on the right of last picture is a Citroën Ami 8, probably an estate version. I ignored they had been exported anywhere, excepted maby to Belgium, but this one is RHD.

Of course Citroen had a British factory in Slough for 40 years and that lasted into the 1960’s.

Pete.

Anyone recognise the White Road Commander 2 ■■ I think you will find that the White Road Commander was once owned by Kingswood Transport Southampton.

Fleetbridge roundabout and flyover construction.

The flyover is taking shape now with some of the middle concrete beams in place. Some more classic cars

Hy Mac excavator. What make is the car with the motorbike next to it ■■ Can remember seeing the shape as a kid.

Ruston Bucyrus Crane.

This monster of a crane was used to lift the concrete beams into place. Cant have been that many six axle cranes
back in the 1970’s i would have thought. Think it says Notts on the door.

This shot shows how long the beams were.

The beams were transported in on a Volvo and Foden.

NCK Ransome Rapier crane.

Here’s an intresting brochure on a earlier model.

The crap white colour scheme.Someone may recognise the number plate ?

Gwynedd Shipping Volvo.

Used to see alot of Metcalfe Farms motors around my way delivery/collecting military vehicles from Bovington Camp etc but have not
seen any for a while now. Anyone know if they are still doing MOD stuff ■■

DSCF9745p.JPG

No idea where the K.E.Express DAF is based ■■

Cant make out where the Edwin Farrall Volvo is from ■■

Anyone know where the Cartwright Bros Scania is based ■■

The ‘car by the bike’ is a late Ford Corsair, early ones had a 1500cc engines and later they fitted the V4. Lovely cars, but with the Cortina selling well they were dropped from the range along with the early Classic/Capri models.

Pete.

The french artic is a hanomag Henschel
