Dean would you have the Photo of the ARC Routeman which was next to the Paulton Transport Seddon Atkinson tipper or the line up shot with the Leyland Constructor tipper which you posted on here about a week ago or more Many Thanks Daz

Morning Dean,
The Daf tanker is one of Oakley Fuels from Halesfield Telford and the Foden is one of Greyhound plant hire from Knockin near Oswestry, it was a owned by the same family as T E Jones haulage which Paul had taken some pics of previously, Cheer’s Pete

DSCF4357p.JPG

Dean,
Supreme Haulage was/are from Glastonbury, never heard of these before but came across a pic of their fleet at truckfest SW last week

Hi dean aag no longer they were based in caldicot as they used to pull out of a factory which is now an housing estate, the Owens volvo is ex carline/stillers ,Owens bought quite a load of their stuff when they finished

Carline volvo, the reg on all the volvos were vdw the Owens is 611 this is part of the fleet 603 and the 500,s

A.A.Griggs were originally from Cambridgeshire - Ely iirc.
I remember back in the day they had quite a few depots, Monmouth, Launceston & Sittingbourne being among them. Pretty sure all their work was paper mill related, certainly their Sittingbourne base was in Kemsley Mill.

I remember one of our neighbours drove for them in the late 70’s - full loads of paper reels, on a fairly long (I’d be guessing at 34 - 36’ish) single axle trailer, with a Scammell coupling - pulled by a TK Bedford…he was based at Monmouth.
I reckon it was early 90’s that they morphed into AAG Distribution.

Btw Dean, this is the first time I’ve posted since you’ve returned- so welcome back, it’s great to see your input again, and it’s very much appreciated.

Cheers, Keith

Ray Smyth:
Hi Dean, I think that AAG Distribution may be from somewhere in Cornwall.
I used to see them very often on the M5 and A30 during my time running to
Redruth between 1995 and 2010. Cheers, Click picture for better image.

Cheers, Ray Smyth.

Thanks for your input Ray.

In that tipper test I’m not sure how they got the Tare weight of the Sed Ak that low when fitted with a ■■■■■■■ engine? Ours with a similar Cravens body but Fuller box and Gardner engines were a lot heavier.

Kev Castle had a few trucks on the Tarmac scheme in Bayston Hill quarry near Shrewsbury and occasionally used to do nights out of our quarry in Derbyshire. I believe his father in law was John Bolas who was in charge of Tarmac’s transport, I think that Kevin has passed away now though?

Pete.

Hello Pete, could the Seddon of had a light weight body possibly ? Most body manufacturers offered a lighter body in
there range.

I’m sure AAG was a shortened name for A A Griggs

Hi Ray & Gaz
AA Griggs were the “in house” owned hauliers for David S Smith the big Packaging Group. We used to deliver 23 ton loads of reels from East Lancs Mill to a David S. Plant near Sawston and we got on well with this Plant so they started loading our motors back to the N. West but we had to invoice AA Griggs for the loads. Cheers Dennis.

Thanks for the info Dennis. Those Borderers must have been light to give you 23 ton payload chap. I assume they were lighter than
the Seddon you also operated ?

ArcDaz:
