I had forgoten about Nelson Stanley running a Bedford TM. They are a scrap yard and are still in business in Poole.

Two Lambert Brothers ERF’s from Southampton.

Army Crusader with Leyland badge.

“boardo96” One from your part of the world. R.G.S.Stone Leyland Constructor. Not had them on before.

Holmere Volvo F88 from Whiteparish.

George Coles,tractor dealer from Shaftesbury.

Ermee GUY Big J4 with sleeper conversion.

Lyons Tetley Volvo F88.

Have not had a Renwicks motor on here for a long time.

RGS STONE from Fenny Bridges nr Honiton,
For those that can remember that part of the old A30 you may recall seeing these motors as there yard is right there on the main road and I believe Roger Stone may well still live there as this house is only a few yards further up the road. Whilst giving my daughter a driving lesson last weekend we used this now quieter stretch of road and I noticed Rogers old Honda pick up that he used to run about in years ago is still
in his driveway so guessing he’s still there although it looks like part of the yard has been developed on.
He ran half a dozen or so ridgid tippers, 3 or 4 of these Constructors, some Dodges and I remember his brother Martin drove an 8 wheel F86.I believe Rogers son Andrew (Pebbles) is a member on here so if he happens to read this he may just let us in on some info.
Cheers Nigel

Lambert Bros had 2 ‘T-plate’ factory sleeper ERFs if I recall. Both with 250 ■■■■■■■■
They previously had 2 day cab 250s (R reg?) they later put sleepers onto. Also 2 240 Gardner SedAtki day cabs ‘P’ reg had sleeper conversions done.
I’m sure at least one of the ‘T’ reg had the chassis extended and a tag axle fitted. Can’t remember whether or not the 2nd had same done.
.
This was of course when the weights were changing up to 38t on 5 axles, and there was a mix of 2 plus 3 axles, 3 plus 2. Long and short pin units, so some trailers had changeable kingpins. Either nut’n’bolt or some had pins that could be clipped into the rubbing plate or dropped down. Plus the rules about trailer height for the new heavier trucks, so it was a case of mix and match all the time.

Hi Dean here is a bit of investigation work for you, this shot below is from FB and I am wondering if it is a pre curser to Spiers & Hartwell as I seem to remember the leaping what ever it is running up through the name, if so we have delivered many times to there place in Evesham but not sure if they still are operating, Buzzer.

Hello Buzzer, Not sure to be honest that F88 is the wrong colour ? The company was started by Deryck Hartwell and Charles Spiers hence the name.

I think that must be another company ,but will have a look at the articles i have on Spiers & Hartwell.
