DeanB wrote ‘Secretly i think you have a thing about those F86’s Pete’ !
Obviously it was that much of a secret that even I didn’t know about it Dean?
Rest assured that I never was a fan of ‘Swedish Reivers’…
Pete.

Suedehead:
Beg to differ Dean but didn’t Langdons hail from Somerset, a spin off from Taunton meat haulage
Meant M5 chap !
Yes will pop something on tomorrow re Taunton Meat !
Paul C Gee:

Chris Webb:
I remember Langdons running a Volvo rigid with three axles on the back - not sure if it was a F86 or a FL. That was in 1994.
Yes i remember seeing that Chris. Was not a F86 probably a FL or FM. have an article about it somewhere, but not scanned yet.

"Chris Webb"Morning Dean.I think the ERF 8-legger tipper is one of C H Jones from Walsall area - Pete Smith will know them.
Hi Chris,
You are correct, it is one of C.H Jones from Walsall, now better known as the owners of the “Keyfuels” brand,
Thanks for confirming Pete !
pete smith:
I think I’m right in saying that Temeside Truck rental was based at Lloyds of Ludlow’s original yard at Temeside Garage in Ludlow, Trevor may know more.

pete smith:
Morning Dean,
The Maggie belongs to Coleman Demolition from Birmingham, still trading.
The Volvo is one of Doyles Demolition also from Birmingham, the last motors I’ve seen of theirs was some Renault Maxter hook loaders a few years ago so I don’t know if they are still trading. Cheer’s Pete
Good stuff Pete, you certainly are know your stuff on the Midlands chap.

HRS:
I put this photo of Paul’s on FB to try n find out what’s what with the axle lift,no joy ! Anyone know ?
Morning Coomsey,
There was a “Coggins” down south who were big in the scrap game. Could it be a rescued Granning lift axle as they were later than the truck, just a thought. Harvey

“Langdons Volvo. Are they still going”

Oily
Thanks for the link Oily, will have a look at that.
Froggy55:
Thanks, DeanB, for all your stuff about the bonneted Magirus! I drove for a few weeks a bonneted Iveco 330-30 using the latest cab, and it was a very pleasant truck to drive. Easy access to the cab, very good driving position, Fuller 12-speed gearbox and most brilliant Fiat engine. I unfortunately never experienced the Magirus V8s.
The first type of cab, with splitted windscreen, was reputed as veru uncomfortable and poorly soundproofed.
Glad you found the Maggie bit intresting “Froggy55”
Magirus Deuz i seem to remember was taken over by Iveco so imagine
they were very similar.
The earlier model i would imagine was similar to the Belaz.

Harvey,
Someone suggested an Volvo rear bogie, the diff looks big enough and the axle spacing?
Mr Coggins will know for sure ! You’ve got to imagine it’s a diy job !
All good Pete ?
Thanks for your comments “coomsey” & Harvey about the Albion lift axle.
Heres a pic of a F86 with rear lifting axle.

Lance Biscomb:
Those mirrors are definitely a RETRO fit :
Yes you are right Lance they are not the original mirrors !
Original ones were smaller and fitted by the window on a single arm.
I wonder if they were fitted due to MOT regulations ? Is there a minimum size that you can have and thats why they were replaced
with larger mirrors ■■
