Anyone recognise the DAF tanker on the Tamar bridge.
Most of us on here will have driven a truck over the Tamar bridge and apart from the view you dont really think about it !
However these suspension bridges are an awesome piece of construction.
I do like a good brochure. This in my opinion is a very intresting read.

Hi Dean.
Reed Boardall are from Boroughbridge Nth Yorks, you can see their depot from the A1.It was formerly Wilsonâs Transport yard IIRC.

CAT 740 judging by the size of it, they build them up north in Peterlee Dean, itâs Dickinson that brings the new ones to the docks for export, a familiar sight on the M1.
Never liked loading those things, because youâre off centre in the cab, so itâs bit of a guess when you drive up on the trailer. Lot of getting out and luck when youâre on your ownâŚ
I like how they painted that âmarkerboardâ on the tyre, havenât seen that for a while!

Thanks Dean, that brought back a few memories. I passed the old works at Irvine last year, sad to see it all overgrown and disused but slowly the area is being rebuilt.
I hung up my driving boots last September as 5 days of CPC at ÂŁ450 + ÂŁ115 medical for the Sunday afternoon shift ( nothing to do with being 75 ) hardest thing was sending off my licence renewal dropping the HGV element. Trust you are both ok !! Harvey
Hi Dean, I remember LEC Fridges, they were from Bognor Regis. Occasionally, if Robert Baillie were
short of fruit market work for the Northwest, they would do a load of chest freezers from LEC at
Bognor Regis for delivery to the LEC Northern depot in Burnley. Baillies needed 3 artics minimum per
weekday up to Wigan depot, because of the contract with H.J.Heinz at Kitt Green, for 2 x 20 ton
loads down to Heinz at Harlesden, London, NW10, and a full load to Heinz at Southampton.
Cheers, Ray.

Thanks for confirming Patrick. Good point you make about the cab being off centre when trying to load one. Imagine loads have come
to grief that way over the years ! I dont suppose you actually have much tyre actually on the trailer, most of it i imagine is hanging
over the side.
You haven been paying attention Patrick as you have not commented on the Crusader pic i popped on a

Dont blame you Harvey that CPC course is enough to make anyone want to give up driving !
