Hello DEAN .BSW were from near Bishops Castle Shrophire ,but many were based at BSW Sawmills Newbridge on Wye ,thank you Trevor

Chris Webb:
Hi Dean.

There is a company from Stockport called Insituform who specialise in drain clearance, they have some wagons over here in the Isle of Man.They did have a Volvo F6 four wheeler tanker rented from TIP as is the one in the photo. IIRC TIP had a depot at Knottingley and Wincanton rented some of their 26 pallet tri-axle fridge sheds off them.
This was one of TIP’s sheds at Maltby, their fridge men were called out regularly to fix faults on em. My mate was shunting one on a sunday and fridge battery was flat so he decided to jump start it,he plugged leads onto 24v socket ont Terberg instead of 12v and it went with a rayt bang, blew battery to bits, luckily he wasn’t hurt. Our office called TIP out and fitter came, put a battery in and never said owt - good job we knew him.

Hi Chris,
The TIP depot is still at Knottingley, my head office is at the rear of it,
I can remember collecting rented box van trailers from that yard for the xmas rush at Argos, I do not think they had moved since we dropped them there from the previous year, 33’ single axle kerb catchers, always had electrical faults and as we had Daf 95’s on hire the trailers would blow that “time out box in the fuse box” so a call out for the trailer and the unit, I was the yard shunter at the time so had to tranship the load over on to another trailer at least 2 or 3 times a week.
The shunt unit was a shagged out Leyland Cruiser,Albion 6 speed gearbox so reverse was situated away and back so I developed some right arm muscles! (no comments please!) none of this Terberg stuff to make the job easier!
Apologies for going off thread Dean, Chris’s fault! Cheer’s Pete

Hi Bean,
Another M S Ellis motor for you from Roger’s pic’s, Cheer’s Pete

Some cracking pictures this morning Dean.
RTS stood for Runcorn Transport Services.
In October 1963 Runcorn Transport Services Ltd. and of its associated companies, Weston Tippers 'Ltd. and R.T.S. Warehousing Ltd, were acquired by the Transport Development Group Ltd.

After the becoming part of the TDG group they still retained their original livery.
Here’s one of their Leyland Marathons passing through Archway London in July 1975.

One of Runcorn Transport Services tankers but carrying the address of their London depot and in ICI Mond Division orange and white livery.
The solvents listed on the side of the tanker were used for dry cleaning which were produced in Runcorn.
