I live right next to where Castlebank Laundry had this factory. Remember it well.
The slick front tyre is maybe to blame for what happened to this Commer (1st Pic)
The UnZud reg plates are a hint. GM used the Bedford name to ease the introduction of Isuzu into what you might call âtraditional overseas marketsâ (i.e. the Colonies, esp. Oz and NZ). This wagon is (I think) one of the Isuzu New Power range that ran for about a decade from the early 70s on. Funky JDM-spec mirrors abound.
I saw Uggy Newportâs ERF 8 wheeler today, loaded with a 20â box + misc odds & ends, on the road into Penzance. Probably off to the harbour for the freight ship to the Scillies.
I was looking down from the bypass so couldnât get a picture, will have to get down to his yard one day & see if I can catch it.
Off FB and a wit with one the comments to quote âIs this a wind upâ

Things must be getting desperate, My driver stopped in Warwick Services North for a 45. And someone has nicked the right-hand jack leg of my lowloader ffs. Just got a price of Hudsons for a new one about ÂŁ160 !! Was it worth the effort.
Is that where everyone has gone? I donât do faceache.
Somewhere too cold for me, Ramone.
It would be ok once back in the cab.Slighty raised roof heated seats and powerful heater.Microwave coffee maker and a nice stereo you would soon forget about the weather outside ⌠ffs. We had one the other day who refused to take a motor out because the lane departure light was on in yellow.Pressed the button on the dash it went out but it wasnât good enough for him so Scania came out .Sensor fault so they parked it up until said sensor was replaced.
But it isnât a sleeper cab, is it? I thought it was at first 'till I saw the door handle. If it wasnât for the apparent snow scene and a reg plate that I donât recognise I would have said âsemi and pup, Ozâ.
Sadly, not enough experts on this new forum these days because I for one would really be interested to know.
Before my timeâŚbut a 1950âs AEC Mammoth Major?
But what country?? RHD truck and the reg plate might be an old Swedish one?
The old Swedish plates had three letters and three digits. My money is on it being New Zealand. The number plate fits exactly with NZ; and donât forget it snows there! And yes, Spardo is right: it is a crew cab.
I dont think itâs a crew cab either just big quarter lights
Some older ones had different formats.

But given the semi and pup trailer configuration I reckon your NZ shout is a better bet.
I hear that skiing is possible in Aus too!
Yes, Iâve just realised that door handle is the ONLY handle and thatâs where the driver sits - so day cab.
Your car example pre-dates the AEC by a good 40 years. Sixties were 3+3.
