I bet it took some driving great photo
IMO itâs a shame we (the British and Australians) donât do adventurous projects like this any more.
That â â â â CF seems to have gone missing when there is a hand ball load to tip
Shh, just enjoy the bs free time.
To be fair I helped them with the first two levels but luckily walked away when they said it will need to be sheeted to hold it all on the deck.
Absolutely clueless, you canât tell the difference between loading and unloading.
Morning all, in my 25 plus years running around Europe I did many multi drop and multi collection with a tilt trailer and lost count of the number of strip outâs even with a step frame tilt on a couple of occasions but i think I only ever stripped down to a flat on one occasion that was once too many. Gerbil
I aint even seen a tilt for years (over here) then again I aint done Euro for years eitherâŚare they still used?
We converted to Euroliners at the time..MUCH easier.
Last time I stripped one out was 2003 ish, if I never do it again it will be too soonâŚsame as roping and sheeting..
Oh yeah and to be controversial âŚ
Same with manual boxesâŚnothing to prove on that score anymore by any meansâŚDavid Brownâs, Standard and back to front Fullers, Spicers etc..all the T shirtsâŚnah sod all of that.
Anything for an easy life nowadays
I think the auto box thing is down to personal choice.I wont buy another manual car i prefer autos because thatâs what i like whereas with lorries i prefer manual because i feel more in control. I have an auto lorry now and itâs ok but iâd just sooner have a manual if it was my choice
R it certainly does, sea saw motor I used to call it thats why I removed the second axle, AV760 and it went like a rocket not so clever to sleep in mind on boards across the engine bay, many a night like that but when you are young and enthusiastic you put up with crap like that, Buzzer
I know itâs ââthe thingââ now for a lot of older drivers to say they prefer manual boxes, and sometimes only to point out to younger drivers that they couldnât âhack them like we didââââŚ(which I donât agree with, because they have never been taughtâŚso how could they)
I do get it that standards for drivers in the old days were harder to achieve, and that is why there are so many inept f/wits with Class 1s in the job today, but even so I would have no desire to go back to manuals.
I also do get the âcontrolâ thing, but I am at the stage now where I have lost LOTS of interest in the job, and if there is an easy way and a hard way choiceâŚitâs EASY every time.
Well iâm not interested in whether new drivers can drive manuals or not i couldnât care less i just prefer manuals to autos for my job because autos donât make my job any easier , as for the job i would retire tomorrow if i could afford to because i hate getting out of bed every morning to do what iâm doing
Define âstripping a tiltâ if not to a âflatâ ?.
Only moving the cover and clearing some of the load deck of the tilt framework for a part over head load ?.
Donât get the big deal either way but obviously easier if the cover only needs to be moved and folded along the trailer over the remaining framework.
As opposed to removed and replaced, or used as sheet if used as a flat.
In my case it was mainly easy side and rear pallet loads very similar to curtain sider work and overhead loads were the exception.
There were a few unaccompanied trailer loads of palletised freight from the continent, put on stripped tilts, again using the cover as a sheet, my guess is probably because they were then booked for an overhead return unaccompanied load when tipped.
It seems logical that unaccompanied tilt trailer work wouldnât have an inventory of sheets provided for the trailers when they were being used for flat type work.
If Iâd walked away when loading it I obviously wasnât going to be around to tip it.
