I drove two of these from time to time and i thought the cabs were superb. They were fairly decent performers 340 and 365 engines and nothing between them .Renaults 18 speed knock over synchro box was a bit rattley even from new but comfort wise excellent much better than the Premium
I had one on Gibraltar round trips, it was a decent truck and pulled well too.
The 365 that is.
The gearbox was a bit notchy but it’s one motor that i think its replacement was a backward step. Loads of room in them and very quiet
I concur, lots of space in the cab.
I too had 3 over the space of about 12 years first flat cab 310 then high top 340 then the best brand new high top 365 we had a couple of Magnums that I drove a couple of times but I always prefered the Frog trotter. Gerbil
The Renault Premium was a great little truck.
Narrow cab for a small entrance and pulled very well.
For an owner driver just starting out they make an ideal choice.
I also had a 290GT bloody awful but it was reliable enough
Anyone recognise it.An old one by the looks of the cab. There’s a name on the side but i cant make it out, converted to a wrecker
That’s a well used old gal isn’t it? Very posh in it’s day too, I see it has the luxury of 2 windscreen wipers.
What a wonderful photo, an old workhorse that’s done a fair old shift on the road and now , in retirement, it’s still ready for more graft
Way ahead of it’s time.
Looks the part, and would be good enough to take over the water today..
(If I had not got lazy and too used to auto boxes these days…and would not care if I never saw a kin tilt again.

The question of Rolls Crusader v TL12 Marathon, let alone 760 Ergo, as usual brought the wrath of the AEC fan club down on my head.
Although prefer drawbars 6x4 and tri axle is my favourite artic configuration. It looks right.
For me tilts were similar to use as curtain siders in most cases.I did local/medium distance uk multi drop/collection general haulage with a tilt.I much preferred that than sheeting it when used as a flat for reels etc.
Yeah ok, but using them like curtainsiders pulling the sheet over each side with straps, is a lot different to a full ‘‘strip out’’.
Well i for one would not want to use a tilt on multi drop , much easier to rope and sheet and quicker. You obviously know very little if you’d preffer a 6x4 firstly for payload and secondly for the fuel bill.I drove quite a few 6x4s and they were terrible on juice
Depends if you have use of a pallet barrow through the back curtain.
A full tilt strip out, absolutely horrible, I’ve done quite a few, where the whole tilt becomes a flat bed trailer.
Then have to rebuild the dam thing again, funny how everyone disappeared when I needed some help.
Had a tip, the over head crane that was inside a factory, the type that slides along on a track in the ceiling, the operator pulls open the roof of the trailer to lift out the load, using the chains on the crane, it pulled out the eyelets where the TIR cord would go through then once he got the load he turned off the lights to finish the shift for me to struggle alone in the dark to pull the tilt back over the top again.
