That picture was taken by Bjorn Kier in a side street near the Opera Hotel and the British Club in Baghdad.

Went to the nec restoration show yesterday, star of the show for me as usual was the volvo club stand, usually they have an f88 but this year they went for this immaculate N12… stunning.

I watched a few YT videos touring the show and none of them mentioned that Volvo. I imagined it might have been an F88 290, but it’s even better: an N12. Good on them for featuring it.

A few more , i saw an Eric Vic trailer going up the A1 this morning above Doncaster

Nice set of pics Ramone!

The first pic, of the ERF NGC was taken by Peter Davies. The ERF is French registered but I don’t know who operated it.

The 3rd pic, of the ERF EC appears to be pulling a garment trailer. I wonder what garment work E Vick did.

The seventh pic shows a well-worn Leyland Marathon LNU 134P, which was one of the ten LHD Marathons that were bought by BRS for their Iran contract.

The ninth picture shows an ERF with a 5MW cab. I haven’t seen that pic before.

PS Here’s that BRS Marathon before it went to the paint shop:

EDIT to add:

Just found another picture of that ERF 5MW, it was taken by Paul Gee and the owner or driver (or both) was Bob James.

Were the BRS Marathons a success?

Most accounts describe the actual operation itself as a bit of a BRS shambles. I know little of how well the vehicles faired. The account in Beyond the Bosphorus is particularly scathing about the ineptitude of BRS and its drivers, so it’s hard to see how much, if any, of their operational failures were down to the Leylands alone.

Always easy to blame the under developed Marathon

They were Astran drivers going to Tehran. The Leyland was on loan.

That Dutch double drive LHD Leyland/AEC sleeper is unusual.

Bob Paul,Graham Wainright and Gordon Pearce

Probably should be on the bus thread but worth a look

I wonder what it says on the plaque!

Is it a BRS ? photo taken at Southall
