It was the first “A” Series ERF in Scotland to be fitted with the 8LXB 240 Gardner
It was on display at the 1972 Scottish Motor Show at Kelvin Hall
It’s pictured in Stirlands of Nottingham yard Willow Road Lenton Nottingham
My Dad was Nottingham based with Kinneils
I have many happy memories as a kid riding in that

Pic n°3 looks very alike the cab Somua fitted on the JL 17 (1950-55), but I have some doubts they exported any trucks to Holland; nice and roomy cab. Pic 5 could be Ford.

All Dutch by the look of it. Many of them with locally built Dutch cabs.
Pic 1 looks like an AEC Mammoth Major with Dutch cab.
Pic 2 looks like a Morris Commercial with Dutch cab.
Pic 4 could be a locally cabbed Bedford QL.
Pic 8 is clearly a Mercedes.
Pic 9 is a Guy (Vixen or Otter perhaps).

Seems an appropriate thread to post this as its name implies, can anyone tell me why all of a sudden Dennis of Bewick fame has been removed from these threads. I know it said that it was his decision to lock his thread but something major must have happened for him to make this move, always plenty of craic and banter too & froe. This is a great shame as his thread was rarely of the first page and very popular with a lot of contributors so I cant be alone in missing this. What I want to know, is there nought that can be done to get it reinstated of course this is up to Dennis at the end of the day but now I cant contact him as the only way for me was to PM him but cannot even do that now, lets hope for a resolution please, Buzzer

Buzzer.
Perhaps we need to start a campaign to bring back DENNIS (Bewick)

Agreed they’re Dutch.
No1 as you say appears to be a Mammoth Major or possibly the Maudslay equivalent Meritor but the rad badge is neither.
No2 is a Morris Commercial FV might be petrol or Saurer diesel engine as factory fitted.
No4 is not a Bedford QL but the equivalent Austin K5, known to army drivers as a “Screamer” due to the transmission noises.
Nos 6 and 7 appear to be DAF.
No 8 is a Merc with a Bedford O type cab neatly grafted on, would have originally been a coachbuilt cab.
Nos 3 and 5 - jury out but 3 may be a Henschel

He was showing as being on the forum yesterday, so he’s keeping an eye on happenings. When he reads this I for one wish you all the best Dennis and your knowledge is missed, as well was your witticisms.

All Dutch indeed Robert, they all operated in the North of Holland, other than that I’ve got no idea about the makes, apart from the obvious ones. I’m always amazed by the knowledge from the fellow participants on here, I take a deep bow to you all

Number 8,the Mercedes look like possibly a coach chassis/cab. Looks like a crew cab which i assume you can convert the rear seats to a sleeper.
Huge cab if you were on your own tramping.

I know what its like being relegated to a back room with no windows on TNUK by a moderator with the " Brexit" thread which was also extremely popular and I started and hardly ever off the front page, maybe Dennis can start afresh with a Bewick2020 thread lets sincerely hope so, Buzzer.

Thanks to pv83, Buzzer and Stanfield for the pics
Patrick’s teasers and pic no 3, well I immediately thought Kromhout but with a lot of browsing I can’t quite make it fit.
