Leyland600:
Hi Oily, I took a photograph of Bannister’s AEC Mercury loading at British Oil and Cake Mills, Selby in 1955 when riding shotgun as a boy with a local haulier during school holidays. Unfortunately I cannot find this pic but I often wonder if this is the same lorry shown above or another restored to replicate their original AEC.
Here is a photo taken the same day of W.P. Bell & Sons, Wigton, two Albion Chieftains and their latest acquisition the Leyland Comet taken outside BOCM Selby. I understand the mill is currently being demolished.0

Hi there, parts of the BOCM mill have just been demolished but this bit with the clock tower remains. Rumours are the site will be turned into a lesuire park with hotel, spa, cinema, pub, bowling alley etc. This bit of the building in your photo I think is earmarked for the Marston’s Pub. would make a good pub.

You got anymore selby area photos leyland600?

here it is recently…

Thank you, Can’t get enough matey, keep em coming.Only thing that depresses me now is I don’t think I’d be able to climb up into one now, (I’d give it a ■■■■ good try though. My reward for all those years driving is a ■■■■ good dose of arthritis, knees are knackered, back is knackered…but I’ve got my memories.
Even my grandkids call me grumpy. I take it as a compliment.

my kids ( 47 & 45 ) aren’t content with calling me grumpy , last xmas they gave me socks with "grumpy old git " embroidered on them . i’m looking for some with middle aged morons to give them this year , cheers , dave

For a while now my kids have reckoned I could teach Victor Meldrew a thing or two, in fact they are a little less complimentary when not within earshot they refer to me as “old bones” , thoughts of the knackers yard come to mind  .
