Hi Patrick and ROF, from what I read that particular wagon would have Steyr power, they had their own engines up to 12 litre straight 6 and V8. MAN acquired Steyr in 1990 to add to their earlier acquisition of O.A.F. around 1938, the two major Austrian truck makers.
The Felbermayr Steyr has an O.A.F./MAN cab, hopefully there’s more detail out here from the better informed.

I’ve posted some pic’s regarding Steyr and O.A.F. some time ago on the Saviem thread, most of them being in the livery of Felbermayr. Don’t know the details about them, but I reckoned the engines were MAN build and the gearboxes were probably of ZF make…?

Don’t you start!
It may be made in Scotland.
It may be made with milk from Scottish cows.
But the method still originates from Somerset.

A bit like Scotch Whiskey from Japan. :unamused:

oh no it isn’t, :unamused: Les.

Thanks for your support, Danne!
In my experience the Scottish race are somewhat similar to army sergeants Ade- they’re NEVER wrong!

Although I have to admit to having wives who displayed the same characteristics! :unamused:

I noticed the wives in the plural , it doesn’t matter how often you change them they all have the same characteristics . Incidentally , a man of your advanced years shouldn’t be posting in the early hours , you need more rest as you get to you’re age . I know these things , i can remember being your age .

A sight to behold.

And what’s with that lassie on the left, looks like her car broke down…?

Spotted these old soldiers at the docks…

Cheers, Patrick

Where were they, Patrick, - Southampton awaiting export?
I drove N320 OUC for several years and then she finished her life as our box shunter in the yard. Thought she went for scrap donkeys years ago!

Was hoping someone recognised that little ERF…
Aye, export was awaiting, but not in Southampton though…spotted it at the Antwerp docks…seems N320 OUC has got yet some more labour to do…

Cheers, Patrick

Octopus at work.
Oily

Nairn Lino Octopus 8.jpg

Hi oily, I remember seeing these Nairn Linoleum Octopuses coming down through Carlisle regularly in the late 1950s early 60s, I believe they were owned by A. Wishart of Kirkcaldy. I had forgotten just how magnificent they looked. Scottish haulage at its very best. Just imagine a couple of these coming down in convoy on a Sunday afternoon interspersed with Guard Bridge Paper, James Kemp of Leslie, Hugh Harper’s ERFs and Wm Russell of Bathgate and lots more famous Scottish operators. . This sort of scene was re-enacted almost every Sunday through Carlisle and the A6 to Penrith.
Cheers, Leyland 600.
