Just an observation- isn’t it great that many Scottish hauliers have retained their distinctive traditional liveries instead of going down the cheaper route of, “Factory white with a bit of vinyl signwriting”?

The road I live on is in the middle of of major upgrade of the water mains at the moment,
access is for residents only plus the contractors for the duration of the job. great entertainment!!

The road is seriously restricted with trenchs and plant, yet still the donkeys are ignoring
the signs, and the obvious diggers and dumpers working. Of course when one donkey ignores the signs
the rest follow, they get quite annoyed when they ask the workers, can you move to let me through?
of course the gentleman builders are very polite![]()
and graphically explain that,
A. no they won’t move, B. the road is blocked off altogther for at least another week,
and C. they will have to reverse out.![]()
magic!!!. Regards Kev.
Some machine that is Kev, cheers for the pics
… I like the road closed you’ll have to reverse bit, I’ve spent quite a bit o’ time sitting car parks (waiting for the shopper) amused by the antics of some trying to get between two white lines
some don’t even bother, obivously beyond their capability. I admire those who do have the skill and that includes the fairer ■■■.
Oily
Here’s one of the business end of the vacuum digger Oily. The driver also mentioned he has the capability to drive the vehicle remotely from his control box, he can move the vehicle up to eight feet without climbing into the cab!!
although he did say it’s not legal to use this facility in the UK. Regards Kev.
Two photos taken I,m sure at the Steam Fair @ Grappenhall just outside Warrington , I think 2006 / 7 . Don,t know much about the trucks

I had a great aunt who worked at Gardner,s all her life, she was Hughie Gardner,s Personal Secretary for many years, she retired from Gardners and new all the Gardner family. I remember her telling tales of the Gardner ,s buying sports cars Jag etc and taking them into the factory and having the petrol engine taken out and a Gardner put in its place My Dad,s family lived in Patricroft Peel Green Rd not far from the factory

Lawrence great photos, wish I,d been around when they cleared her house out after she passed away can you image the stuff she had amasted. I know they gave her share,s in Gardner instead of cash bonuses, but when Perkins bought them out she sold the lot . Dragon of a lady but loved Gardner,s

And here it is a Jaguar refitted with the Gardner 4 LK, Regards Larry.0
We once had a fitter who put a 4LK into an old Daimler car. It was a big car, it had once been part of the Royal fleet of vehicles.
Gardner’s also had a Lagonda with a 6LK fitted, the only one of that engine they produced I believe.
Pete.
