I’ve got the negative for that.It was taken by my dad in the old cattle market carpark in Uttoxeter and my uncle Bill used to drive itPercy Warburton bought a few motors after the war.Dennis Max and Jubilant LRF 401 which a chap called Hedley Shaw ran it.Then it went to a fair ground co.He also bought a Proctor. My dad took photos of them all but I can’t find them
Morning Tony,
One of a Proctor registered in Wolverhampton, I presume your Dad worked out of the original Bamford’s factory by level crossing in Uttoxeter? Cheer’s Pete ps. The photo’s I posted were off a Staffordshire heritage site.

I think you’ll see I put thgse pics onto the Staffs Pastrack. They were taken in 1946 before Bamfords built the new foundry by the crossing. My dad didn’t work for Bamfords. He worked at Atkey’s Garage in Carter Street and did rebores and reconditioning batterys etc.
I think the photo of the loaded motors i.e. Proctor,Thorneycroft and Jubilant were take by Mr McCann.During the war Percy Warburton ran a Leyland Octopus,Leyland Cub (petrol) a Badger and a Foden four wheeler. My Uncle Bill drove the Cub on Scottish and London runs and before he came back from a trip to London he had to tie the cab up with wire to hold some bits together after a bombing raid…Coming back to Bamfords, these were taken in the old factory yard in Spiceal Street off Ballance Street in Uttoxeter.
Just something you may not know that during the war Bamfords used to assemble Daimler Scout Cars mainly because of the bombing problems in Coventry although the bits were taken to Bamfords from there but I think Daimler got away with that.
There is a picture on Pastrack of Uttoxeter Railway Goods yard which is very old.Type in Uttoxeter and you will see it I forgot to say that Percy also bought a new Dennis Max around the same time.

Milk round in Holland the old way, Buzzer.
Hi Oily, I thought coke was something you either drank from a bottle or sniffed off a saucer not something you shovelled off a wagon ■■ An acquaintance of mine who runs a transport cafe tells the tale of while he was clearing tables one day a group of drivers from across the North Channel were sitting laughing and joking, when he got to their table they asked if he would like to buy some coke, declining the offer he carried on clearing up. A bit later while doing another round of table clearing he was asked again by this group if he wanted to buy some coke. Innocently replying “No thank you I can buy as much as I like, even a pallet full at the local cash and carry store”. What it is to innocent or quick witted !!
Cheers Leyland 600.
