That Trojan van is a handsome little thing.

Evil little things, I swear the worst thing I’ve ever driven, and I’ve driven a few.

Evening all,
Froggy, the joys of aTrojan van were never to be forgotten!..Like GOM , I was taken with their looks…so much so that as a now fully fledged “International” driver, (now it was in 1963), just returned from a trip to Grenoble, (that was a long way in a little 4 cylinder Foden), and with a bulging wage packet, (today would not pay for a night out), I was in the need of some really nice personal transport…(well better than the Triumph twin that I rode everywhere)
Why…I was in love with a plump sweet nothing from nearby Shrewsbury town…and my intentions were…“manly”!
So it came to pass that I became the owner of that rare beast, a Trojan van…and the back load area was quickly carpeted with prime off cuts of Cyril Lord`s finest carpet, (courtesy of my pal a young and hopeful carpet fitter)…copius cushions were thrown in for good measure…and away we screamed , (well actually that engine made a sound not unlike a flatulent Gorilla on heat)…to collect my heartfelt love…
Faux fur coat, red mini dress, long white pvc boots…(grief she was as bad as the Trojan)…and of course the Trojan had no heater…and steering as heavy as my Foden…and a power output not dis similar to a Mobylette…we groaned and froze through rural Shropshire, she froze, passion froze, the b…y Trojan froze…
Hatefull thing…
But I saw said heart throb some years ago…my goodness Im glad that I took her out in a Trojan…lucky escape!!!
funny how vehicles play such a large part in ones life!
Cheerio for now.
Dont know if this is photo shopped or genuine ■■
Ok well if i must have a night out i will take the Kenworth !
You could have a party in that sleeper !
That just looks like too much polishing to keep it that clean !
Wonderful recollections of the Trojan van Saviem.
Mine was an A60 van - high mileage and an awkward gearchange but it not only had a heater of its own but also an added oil stove in the back. Toasty.

Appears to be genuine, DEANB, and here are some more US-style Transcons from that neck of the woods. Robert
Hi! Oh yeah thats genuine,it was owened by a guy called Kenta just outside gothenburg. He was true legend in the buisness. Always fighting for better rates and terms for O/Ds and drivers. After the transcontinental he had 3 T-cab Scania one 2series and two 3 series. Then two Volvo NHs and finaly a FH540 before he sadly died of cancer.
I’ll see if i can dig out some pice of his trucks.
Lost in France last week lol

Talking about Triumph twins, this was mine back in 1974-76. A 1956 T 110.
Evening all,
Ah Froggy, that is a beautiful house, which bit of God`s country do you live in?
Tiger 110s were a nice bike, I started with sprung hub Thunderbirds, then in a moment of madness, a Tiger Cub, (which I fixed with copious amounts of Gaffer Tape), a genuine Gold Star silencer…sounded great…should do, the opening at the end of the silencer was larger than the piston!!!
Then came 3TAs, and a 1962 Bonnerville, that became a Triton, as the handling frightened me no end! Then a later Bonneville, but then I was off to BSA, the Rockets, and of course the temptation of Gold Stars, 350, and 500s…looking back what Orrible devices…turned me onto Velocette singles…ah bliss…
Rode a lot in France, as a tourist, then when I was first in Paris I bought a Mobylette…loved it, feet on the Frame and flat out everywhere…used to lend it to my landlord, (a Vietnamese restaurant owner, in Levallois, (only premier addresses for me)!!!..while I was away on business…
Then in Lyon, my neighbour in the concrete block that within I had my home, was a Gendarme, and rode a nice BMW…persuaded him, and his mate to pose for a picture with a TR305 and Trailor Savoyard, which we used in a feature about “our” economy drive tuition…My boss could not believe two Motards posing for a picture!
Happy days, when we were all young, and pals, and the world was before us to enjoy!..and those Police BMWs were very nice to ride…(oh those illicit Sunday mornings!!!
Cheerio for now.
