Isle of Skye last year.
Oily

grumpy old man:
Yon 6 wheel trolley bus is a handsome thing.
Leeds is at present thinking of building a new trolley bus network. It’ll come to nothing of course, just the same as the proposed new tram network (£10 million spent on prep. work and then abandoned…too expensive), and nobody mentions the guided busway up the A58 York Road, total waste of money.

I remember the trams,to go from Middleton to Leeds down through Belle Isle and Hunslet, The tram carriageway is still there at Belle Isle although covered over , it wouldn’t take much to open that bit up.

The “suits” who do the transport planning for Leeds couldn’t run a Christmas raffle. Incompetent. they’ve been buggering about for the last 15 years and nothing is any further forward.

Gingerfold you mention that the Hindle name will soon be gone , whats the problem ? , and I must admit that ERF twin steer is a big favorite of mine .

I had an “awayday” today to Carlisle Motorcycle Museum, what a great experience!!! This little gem of a place is well worth a visit Oily next time you head south.
The owner, Mike Barry, has a fantastic collection of bikes he has restored over the last few years, he is a mechanical genius!!!
These are just a sample, If you want more just ask.   Regards Kev.

Hindle fell victim of the “too many eggs in one basket” syndrome when we lost the Watson steel job to WS Transportation (Stobart again), plus we had another large bad debt situation with another construction industry firm. End result the fleet number was halved and the company was bought by M.J. May Transport last June and there are now only two former Hindle vehicles in that livery. Construction industry work is now at the bottom of the list of what we do.

Personally not much into motorbikes, owned a James Cadet back in the bus driving days, not so for the other members of my family, remember my dad telling me about an Indian he had, early 1930s probably like in the picture , daughter has a Ducati, her husband a Kawasaki, one grandson a Triumph 600 something, another grandson, has a BMW and a Ducati 1098 Sport, the son a few years back had a Harley Davidson Ironhead I think it was. Makes that come to mind from long ago would be BSA, Ariel, Velocette, Vincent Black Shadow, Sunbeam, (which had a reverse gear) Brough Superior, Norton, Triumph, Francis Barnet and Matchless
Cheers
Oily
Edit  Got that wrong it was the Brough Superior that had a reverse gear and an Austin7 engine :astonished: thanks to mr google
