1Hi Oily a wagon a car & bus in Tow Law a few year ago. O & a van thrown in for good measure, regards Gordon![]()
That Ford Consul takes me back Gordon, my first car was a 1959 Consul. Cost me £100, the wipers got slower the faster you drove!!! Brilliant in the rain. ( Reg. No. 585KTN.) Regards Kev
Also put me in gear to have a look for this probably about 1965/66, off white colour. later had it two toned, bottom half red with replacement side chrome trim and diagonal to front wheel arch

Ha ha…now you,re talking !! a bit off thread but my first car was a Ford Consul 375, bought it for £150 cash outside the Old Maypole Pub in Hainault, Essex. I was only 15 !! (1978) The fella that I bought it from drove me to his birds house in Woodford and then I learnt how to drive a three speed column change on the way back to the pub !! it was raining and I found out about those wipers too.
It was in Grey Primer and I roller painted it pale blue and white, mounted the spare on the boot, fitted a sunvisor and a big rubber mudflap across the back with white edging and some reflectors, and a Holden bonnet mascot which was a big delta wing plane. I sold it about a year after I passed my test when I was 17…I will try and find a photo of it.
The good old days.
GS
Funny old world GS.
By the time I was 11 my mind was filled with driving. We had an Atco mower to mow a tennis court. I modified a bike to go on the back it to make a ride on mower. I seized the 2 stroke engine! I learned all about 2 strokes rebuilding it.
On my sixteenth birthday I was up before daylight to ride my brother’s scooter.
I drove my Leyland Comet at least 2 weeks before my 21st.
My daughter is now 28. She hasn’t driven a car since she was 16 when I took her down to the private land in front of our office and after a tense half hour she said ‘I don’t want to drive thankyou Daddy’.
She hasn’t. She uses public transport. I cannot imagine not driving, although I have to say I wouldn’t want to go to London tomorrow, never mind the Middle East!
Ah well, it takes all sorts!
John.

Wolsingsham eh, went there 2007 to do a pre arranged campervan buy with Robsons, shook hands on a part exchange deal, which they later reneged on, wanting more money, bah humbugno deal.

OilyOily, the Foden is owned by John Gornall, he restored it over a number of years. He ran his own haulage company for many years, before retiring. Regards Kev.
