Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Another one from Cinnaminson NJ (my old man’s neighbourhood)

Got to be longer than our old ERF 6 wheeler and still unable to be parked in the garage lol

This is only a medium sized motor home - some tow their cars and have a bigger engine than a Mini to run the air conditioning … Love to know the mpg though

Eddie would have shopped at Waitrose ROF but the nearest is at Newton Mearns a costly run from Sanquahar with a Rolls to collect his morning rolls besides the local bakery that supplies the Coop are probably better quality.
Cheers Leyland 600.

Couldn’t he have sent his chauffeur in the Roller?

Only been in a Roller once and it was a taxi. And Gerald you are right local ones are the better bet. ROF I havny got a chauffeur the wife canny drive.

Aye Eddie I have only been in two and wasn’t impressed, the last one stank of petrol from running with the choke out spluttering and backfiring, made me proud of our Austin Metro we had at the time. Ye canna beat guid Scots morning rolls any day frae the local baker.
Cheers, Leyland 600

Thanks to erfguy for the pictures  , here’s one from your neck of the woods.

Hi Gardner 120, cheers for the pic  something like 7 or 8 mpg, but hey in the States you can probably buy a gallon for the price of a litre here.

Hi “Oiltreader & Co.”, and thanks for all the contributions to this very interesting thread.

Now heres one to be heading to Bonnie Scotland , sometime. :unamused: It was parked-up a Houghton Parkhouse Coachworks last month ,.........and was still there last week. This time I managed to take a better photograph . Keep an eye open for the DAF in your part of the world , "Oiltreader" ,...........you cant miss at that size. :sunglasses:

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

A bit of a puzzle with this one . Is it really a Harvester International ,…or has it been rebadged by an enthusiastic driver ? :unamused:
Does anyone know the make and model , please ?
I took the photograph about 8 years ago when on holiday in Malta,…where Bedford buses become Leylands or A.E.Cs. :unamused:

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

i once rented an RV in California, bloody big thing it was, 7 litre V8 petrol, IIRC about 7mpg, but the fuel in the US was a third of the cost over here so in our money it was doing the equivalent of 21mpg . I could live with that, just set the cruise control going across the Mojave desert and left it to it. We had a ■■■■ good holiday.

our daughter lives in california and they have a 40 foot fifth wheel type caravan pulled by a bloody great big pickup truck . it does about 12/14 mpg solo , god knows what it does pulling the trailer . petrol has gone up to about $4 per gallon and everyone is up in arms about it , but the american gallon is bigger than the imperial gallon they still get it cheap less than half what we pay .

Thanks to harry and cattle wagon man for the photos  that’s a fine looking Daf outfit on its way to Kilfinnan Farm, Spean Bridge, I’ll be looking out for that one, the Malta IH, I was thinking a bit of Oshkosh(cab) there but harry has nailed it with the link.

Hi Harry, Lancashire to London Leyland Atlantean coaches belonging to W.C. Standerwick, Blackpool and Scout Motor Services of Preston both part of the Ribble group. Carrying a hostess serving coffee, tea and sandwiches these coaches were known as Gay Hostess’ befor the term had a different meaning as of today.
Cheers, Leyland 600

Many thanks to “Harry” & “Oiltreader” for identifying the Maltese-reg. artic.
Seeing as you mention Spean Bridge , one of Fergusons Volvos was snapped` by me at Truckhaven recently.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Thanks to cattle wagon man for the Ferguson Volvo  , not a bad livery, probably in the top 10 of todays paint and vinyl jobs.
Snapped this in Inverness today, slightly unusual cargo mix, hay bales two high on a bed of rough first cut timber board, I don’t know the first thing about roping, but can see a lack of anchorage at the back.
