Spot on Dai,they were the best firm of yesteryear in South Wales, well IMHO as a 1960’s trailer mate!!! Cheers Dennis.
Aye Dennis I loaded off them all the time when I worked for Smiles for Miles Vivian Bowen was a great lad, If I loaded out of their depot at Gorsingnon he would give a hand to sheet up, Of course the loads had to be well sheeted as Tin Plate had to be kept totaly dry, Usually for Westhoughton MBC, Regards Larry.
Metal Box at Westhoughton was a regular load for the Brady Octopus/trailer Larry as well MB at Aintree,we occaisionally were loaded for the Carlisle factories but it was better for us to load for Lancs eh!On the odd occaision that Bowens had nowt we loaded off Trevor Phillips but Bowens were always first call.Cheers Dennis.

Yes, I agree, and it’s one of the reasons that I don’t like photo’s of tired old vehicles that have come to the end of their working lives just being parked up in a corner or in a field and left to rot. Far better IMO to get the gas axe out, things wear out and are no longer viable, but to just leave then rotting away is wrong.
The commercial preservation scene would be a lot poorer if redundant motors weren’t left to rot, you can’t restore one once it’s cut up and melted down!

Yeah, fair comment.
These units are called Trailer Toters, for moving trailer homes in the States, the yellow one is a Ford, I’m guessing the red one might also be a Ford.

This wasin Cheshire the other day, looks to have been there a long while too. It seems to be supporting a big aerial opposite a workshop of some sorts, anyone know the story behind it?
Hi All
Oily can you ask Bristol Lad when you speak next what V8 was in the spanish Dodge or is it a recab of the old one.
Also is it being towed off the ferry or just chained to the deck as the Irish Sea can be a bit rough.
Cheers Rich

Every Christmas the jib is strung with lights and can be seen for miles. Been there a long time but I know nothing about it.

Hi Cavlad
Interesting that, who’s going to tell me what the make of the base vehicle is
Oily
If it’s supporting an aerial I’m guessing someone has had a planning application turned down to erect a mast, if it’s on wheels it doesn’t need planning permission.
Seeing as my previous answer was not acceptable I have been down and taken a better picture to try and explain what I mean and I repeat : IT IS A CHRISTMAS TREE
Lol, I thought you meant it was only used for illumination at Christmas and it was used for something else during the rest of the year! There is a wire than runs from the top to the workshop across the road, I assume this is the power supply?
Hi all and Cavlad, I have taken the liberty and tweaked the lorry part a bit and my guess would be underneath is a Leyland Comet (wheel step ring) but not a LAD cab, if you don’t approve I’ll wheek it off.
