i well remember the Ferrymaster F89’s, we ended up with 1 at desborough depot , most of its time with us was spent offhiring rental trailers, i think its demise came with a coil of steel coming through the headboard of a tilt coming out of dover and knocking the cab off , pretty sure the drivers name was bill saunders from finedon.
tonyFunny you should remember that, it has brought back a vague memory long forgotten to me too. When I worked for White Trux in Dover on European work, as I was casual at the outset there were some weeks when I didn’t have a load across the water and he would offer those of us in that position day (or rather, I think, night) runs with Ferrymasters trailers to changeover somewhere in Northants. He had 2 distinct fleets, Volvos (almost all F 89s) for continental work and much lower powered Mercs for UK only. The reason was that he only taxed the Volvos as cars and we were not allowed to run with even empty trailers in the UK, always bouncing back and forth to Dover. Did mean though that there were no delays waiting for clearance, I knew that when I got off the boat I was home in Folkestone within a couple of hours. Didn’t suit me though, the Ferrymasters runs, because after the 89s I found the Mercs just a little bit laboured, and preferred to take some time off on the beach till the next call came.

PS Buzzer, does Ferrymasters count towards the list you are so interested in?

you would find the mercs a bit of trial after an 89 , at that time they were V6 1619’s.

America? Could be South America as Brazil produces loads of Mercedes trucks that you see in use right there and right across South America. But that would indicate it is a job site with a lot of idle equipment.
Thanks to coomsey, Lawrence Dunbar, Buzzer and Suedehead for the photos
