Or radio controlled, perhaps guiding him backwards, as his mirror doesn’t seem to be much use.

The 5th of your selection today of the D1000 shows 2 of Ford’s options for the D series. The mirrors and the additional cab protection bumper (they hinged to tilt the cab, but forget what Ford called it). Neither seemed popular with buyers though.

Thanks for posting pics so regularly. I am sure I am not alone in appreciating this.

the additional cab guard was a 'brush guard ’ and i’m pretty sure the ‘wester mirrors’ were standard , at least on tractor units , until about 1970 when they chaged over to the wobbly type . i’ve put a cab options sheet on here

the early D series lighter rigids had these small mirror arms , with small mirrors

Thanks for posting this. Both are shown as options in the spec sheet. I recall the mirrors being options on all D series models.

Edit: Disappointed that the many paint options were not shown. The buyer had a choice of several colours as an optional extra.

Thanks again. I recall the paint colours available as red, pale-ish yellow, dark green, pale blue and dark blue. I don’t remember white but many of the Ford fleet were white (and blue), so perhaps they did offer it. Did I miss any? Nowadays I don’t imagine the choice is anything but white…
