Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Hi,kevmac47. FAUN(and possibly others) have put refuse collection bodies on quite a few of those Merc.Econics with that axle configuration.

Some more nicely painted wagons.

The 4 axle chassis this set up is supposed to prevent front axle overloads during loading with the compactor bodies this was allways a problem. Eddie.

I often see these impressive motors about but have never been able to get a shot of one until now. The driver told me the payload would be about 75t.

Here’s another of those strange axle configurations. With this municipal/crew cab it has had me wondering where it was going to used.Regards Kevmac47.0

Hi Kev there is a few in Sheffield run by Viola and several different axle configurations they have the same as you posted and the single wheeled axle at the rear and steering and last week a 4 wheeler came round but I think that was a test run of some kind as they stopped but the guys in the cab looked like suits and then set off after switching more orange flashing lights than Blackpool illuminations. it had a long roof bar full width then 2 revolving amber warning lights on the cab roof 2 at the back and about 3 square ones about 4 inch by 4 inch down the side and whats the betting somebody will run into it and say they did not see it.
cheers Johnnie
