keelman:
have you ever thought of claiming the cost of your passport from the Tax Man?
I did, and I don’t do euro - but I might
Jessica’s dad - we still go over to France/germany/Lux also Eire although they’ve never asked for passport in southern Ireland though technically you should have one.

would you honestly go abroad without passport?
I personaly know a couple (in the days when Husband and Wife were on same passport) the husband died on holiday and when the wife brought the body back she was refused entry to the UK
Reason, when the husband died his passport was invalid and she therfore did not have one
also I can recount several stories of drivers stopped and fined as much as £1000.00 for incorrect paperwork. 1 driver was held for 3 days while owner went out to Spain to pay fine-----and it was her husband------at least he should have known better
only last week I of our van drivers stopped in Germany had not completed his daily log sheets-------fine 170 Euros
every one takes a chance in life but sometimes it goes wrong

i didnt mean keep going aboard without a passport i meant just tell them everytime they want you to go that you havent got round to getting one.
at penfolds work there work dosent revolve around european stuff they have enough uk work to keep him going if he didnt want to get a passport if they insist its just them being difficult.

Being difficult or having the flexibility to put any of their drivers on any of the runs when scheduling the transport?
If I was running a transport operation whose work was a mixture of UK and European work I would only employ drivers with passports. If a driver decided they didn’t want to renew their passport then they would be no use to the company and they would have to be let go. If a driver has taken a job knowing it involved European work, and a passport is necessary, I don’t see they can complain when it needs renewing.
we are in exactly that position-------we have recently won 2 contracts runnining into Europe and we are receiving applications from drivers who only want UK work
we are based just behind Washington Services and 1 applicant did not even know where Team Valley was, (15 minutes away)
but that was understandable-------------he was a mackem
