Passed My Class 1 !!

on passing your B+E test

Either that is a typo or it’s meant in jest me thinks

Noted Mike, and I understand what you are trying to say - but one of my “minors” was for undue hesitation (i.e. being slightly too careful) at a roundabout, which quite frankly has SQRT(FA) effect on any else’s safety. Another was for taking a shunt during the reversing exercise - again more or less zero impact on anyone else’s safety. The other one was indeed for taking a wider line than necessary at a T junction and I shall be careful not to repeat this on the roads.

Good ,well so long as you are prepared to learn from your mistakes you should do well, its when you think you know it all that the ■■■■ hits the fan.
A piece of advice my father gave me when I was 21 and passed my class 1 was “Keep your eyes and ears open and keep your mouth shut” and you will be alright son. It proved to be good advice.

I would strongly disagree with part of your father’s advice - Keeping your mouth shut helps no-one. As has been impressed upon me by experienced colleagues whenever I started a new job, it is vital that you ask someone if you are not totally sure what to do or need help.

My advice to you roymondo is , listen to all the advice you will be given and ignore most of it.
do your own thing, If in doubt , do nowt.

Revise to reflect the ear/mouth/brain ratio?

Re the minors - they’ve got aspects of seriousness about them so here’s my understanding:

Taking shunts arguably diverts one’s attention due to opposing directions of travel requires us to neglect the other direction whereby something/somebody could slip into a blind spot?

Hesitation might induce a muppet behind to rear-end you? (Sure it’s his lookout but it’s fifteen minutes onto our journey time at best).

Wider lines tend to ■■■■ cyclists, scooter riders, pedestrians into the ‘vacant’ space vacuum?
