Hi
I passed a test for a higher category on the 16th of January
The examiner said he was taking my licence off me and sending it to the DVLA to add the extra categories and I should recived it back within 1 month
He issued me with a blue ‘practical driving test pass certificate’
On the back of the certificate it says
If you have handed your licence into the examiner
you should receive your exchange licnence showing your additional entitlements within 3 weeks
The problem is I phoned the DVLA up today and they have no record of this certificate that I have passed my test
On the front of the certificate there is a part that I can sing and print
which says: Application declaration (only to be completed if sending this certificate into the DVLA)
If I sent the certificate to the DVLA would this speed the process up as I cant see any employment agencies totching me with out both parts of my licence even if I registerd with them before I took my test
Before you send that ticket off I’d go back to the test centre and ask them the score…I’d be reticent about sending that certificate in case they lose that too and that leaves you bugger all.

HIya if you do send the slip to the DVLA make sure you send it with the correct post code for that department
(there are more than one)if you post the slip to the wrong department it will go straight into the waste bin.
MAKE sure you send the slip recorded delivery it costs a few bob more but well worth it…

Without stating the obvious mate, but this is the DVLA you’re talking about.
And in JANUARY too, so any tests passed in December will still be being dealt with.
I know it’s a ■■■■ position to be in, but you’re going to have to be patient, your licence is probably still in an inbox, hence they don’t know about the certificate.
I would NOT under any circumstances send that certificate off to the DVLA, as Bri said, they have a habbit of losing things, then you’d possibly be back at square 1.
At least, at the moment, if they’ve lost your licence, you’ve got proof that you’ve passed your C? (you don’t say), and therefore had a car licence to start with.
Might not save any other entitlements you may have though - if the worst came to the worst. I think it’s mostly horror stories to be honest.
The test centre will not have sent your certificate straight away, it’ll have waited till the end of the week (ie 21st Jan) before being sent, as they send them all together as far as I know.
This will have been a Saturday, so won’t have reached the DVLA before the Tuesday (24th Jan), so expecting it to even have been touched within a week and a few days is expecting miracles tbh.

I cant get the phone number for the test station

From what i can remember they never asked for my old licence (Dsa examiner) i had to send both licence and pass cert in to DVLA to get the new cat on my licence, seems odd that the examiner requested your licence unless things have changed since as was nearly some 10yrs ago
here some info on this subject
Claiming a driving test pass
Once you have passed your driving test (both theory and practical), the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) will need to be told. Whether it’s for a car, motorcycle, lorry or bus you must exchange your test pass certificate within two years of passing your test.
Photocard driving licence holder
Applying at the test centre
If your photocard driving licence was issued after 1 March 2004, you’ll be given the option to have your full licence issued electronically. The examiner will take your licence off you, scan the details and send them electronically to DVLA.
You’ll be given a pass certificate, as proof of passing, and DVLA will send your full licence to you within four weeks of you passing your practical test.
Applying by post
You’ll need to:
complete the declaration on your test pass certificate
send it, together with both parts of your driving licence (photocard and counterpart), document to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BJ

Today is the 4th of February. Don’t panic for at least another 12 days, if not more.

They changed the procedure early in the “noughties” - they used to give you a form for you to send off to DVLA, and then you had to do the paperwork. After the change, they gave you the option of carrying on with the old scheme or just giving them your license and they send it off to DVLA for you.
For the OP: It’s unusual to wait this long; when I took my tests, the new license was usually back in about a week. However, when I recently renewed my photocard, it took them a few weeks to return it, so maybe they’ve got slower. If you do need to give them proof of passing the test, either go into your local DVLA office and ask them to take a copy of your pass certificate and send it up to head office, or go to your local post office and ask them to do a “Certified Copy” and send that. Don’t send the original unless you really have to.
It will turn up by the end of next week , don’t worry xmas backlog as usual this time of year, they quote 3 weeks but when you rang they would not have any info, as soon as its on system it will be posted out, chill
After you have left it 6 weeks, when you ring them back ask to speak to a manager. Less than 6 weeks they will probably advise you to call back later as they do have quite a large work load…

I once heard at an RDC that SA99 is “The Dustbin”.
From what I recall those items without the correct postcode get sent down to the main postroom for the ‘general in’ area to be resorted, and likewise delayed even further…
An friend worked their sometime ago (from when I lived in Wales).
for myself i ve always had good experience with dvla BUT, I always !!!photocopy my docs 1st, and either take them 2 the local DVLA office ( 2 include packed lunch and book !!!)or send them SPECIAL DELIVERY,cost approx £5 ish, painfull i know, on the wallet but can be tracked all the way by computer, and is assured delivery next day (working) all details provided ,i.e. who signed for it and when, if not delivered by agreed time(at time of u posting,)u get your post money back, AND the P.O. will/should still have your letter/docs>i did some work 4 the P.O. , this work is an earner 4 them and they pay particular attention 2 getting it right. very important docs should never be entrusted 2 standard postal system!!! am still waiting 4 CHRISTMAS presents i posted on dec 2002 to be delivered >i kid u not !!!
