Pah! Who needs 2 years experience? I don't! :-P

Hi guys/gals!

Well here is some more good news…

As we all keep saying on this very forum, don’t give up asking around and don’t stop applying for jobs (even when the companies aren’t advertising) as the more you put yourself out there, you more chance you give yourself of being in the right place at the right time.

There have been quite a few recent posts on the forum by people who have struck it lucky by being there at the right time and managed to secure themselves a chance to prove themselves. Well, the same has happened to me today! I was called in for an interview this afternoon and despite the fact that I have no experience on cat C+E (only 7 years on cat C), they are willing to give me a chance. I think being very local (the company are within walking distance) helped a little as well.

So, the key to it all is, DO NOT GIVE UP! Just keep on hassling them companies until they eventually give in.

Regards,

Liam.

Way to go mate well done chuffed to bits fer ya , look forward to a few photos and how ya first day went , enjoy

All the best

Jen x

Thanks Jen!

Yeah, I am really looking forward to it but at the same time I am very apprehensive as to how it’s going to go. Apparently I will be using chains which is totally new to me! I have used ratchet straps many times before, but these chains will be something new. I just hope I get to grips with them. :unamused:

I will indeed try and take a few photos of my first day, but might not get to upload them until I get back home on Friday night, as the job will have me staying out Monday to Friday. I believe my first job is to Manchester following another colleague, then I will be off on my own to Pembrokshire.

How are you gettting on?

Liam

Well done Liam! I bet you are chuffed to bits. I know the champagne will be coming out when i get my first Job.

Just out interest when did you pass your C&E and how long were you looking for work?

Brilliant news, well done.

Well Done

Well done. Great news.

Chains are fine once you get to grips with how the tensioners work.

Keep us updated.

Well done , just listen to everything they want you to do and ask if unsure, the only daft question is the one not asked, good luck and enjoy

Well done mate, I’m sure you’ll have no problems working out working with chains but one of the old hands will help you if you’re unsure.

Cheers for the comments guys!

Yeah, if I am in any doubt about anything I will indeed ask one of the more experienced chaps. I ain’t no hero! :sunglasses:

Nate187 I passed the C+E on January 17th 2012 and I have been asking around and applying for jobs since then. So I think I have been lucky in ‘being in the right place at the right time’ so yes, I am chuffed to say the least. For the past few months I have only been managing to do odd days through one local agency (despite being registered with most of them around here!) So, now I can finally get to pay off my credit card which took a hammering during my training!! Anyway, good luck with your job hunting mate.

I will keep you all updated with my progress but you will need to bear with me as I probably won’t be able to get online until I am back home at the weekends.

Chain tensioners are a piece of ■■■■ mate, very very easy.

Congratulations.

Cheers Roy!

Yeah, they seem to be turning the licences around pretty quick, so you should be in possession of your very own shiny new licence very soon mate! I did notice the post with your good news and made comment on it just a few minutes ago. All the very best with job hunting now.

Jen,

Thanks for the comments. Yes indeed I will be looking for help from the old timers no doubt, but hey, we all have to start somewhere don’t we? Anyway, good luck with your trunking run when it finally gets underway. It’s nice to know that you are being considered when it’s ready. I’m looking forward to hearing how it all goes when you get stuck in.

Sam,

Thanks for the comments. I am glad you said it was easy and I’m not so apprehensive now. Cheers!

LJA did you post your licence off yourself to get it back that quick or handed it to examiner ■■?

Congratulations!

Well done LJA. Always found your posts interesting and glad you’ve got a start so quickly. As already said, don’t be afraid to ask. Pete

Hey Noworries,

I let the examiner take it, and he gave me a pass certificate to show anyone while I was without it. I must say I was quite impressed at how quickly I got it back.

Thanks Pete!

Oh, don’t you worry mate. I will indeed always ask if I am in any doubt about anything. It doesn’t pay to try and be a hero, especially when you are responsible for such large and potentially dangerous goods/vehicles. :sunglasses:

Nice one. Now, fancy a bum? :grimacing:
