Overtaking a funeral

I drive a bus in london.
It’s got to the stage now in london that people in funeral processions seem to think that the law does not apply to them!
Funeral directors cars even have have green strobe light on the top which looks blue when it’s flashing.
Ive seen many near accisents where funeral cars sail through red traffic lights.

I should buy a hearse; I’ve got a cemetery just up the road, a community hospital about a mile away, a couple of undertakers in town…I could take a stiff to Oxford crem, nip across to the JR Hospital for a backload to the CoOp undertakers, run one of their stiffs a few hundred yards to the cemetery, back to Com Hospital to load for the 8am bbq at Oxford…

The situation really gets up my nose here. They travell along with up to 50 cars all doing 20 mph and actually sit in the middle lane of a main highway, they can’t even move into the slow lane FFS.
I have great respect for the relatives of the dead but to mess up everyones day by holding up traffic in thoughtless situations is ignorant and if you pass them or try to move ove they look at you in disgust. To sit in the middle lane of the M1 would be a joke so imagine what its like here.

‘…orys … you could … get a coffin in white and red …’

Or blue with yellow stars of federation?

There’s a guy with a flatbed Leyland Beaver who does funerals with it: I read in Heritage Coms he recently done a truckers funeral who weighed 47 stone :open_mouth:
I bet he wished the beaver had a hiab fitted for that one

I had to go to a funeral a few weeks ago, the service was in the church in Thirsk and the actual burial was at the cemetry in Dishforth which meant going up the A1 for a few miles and I think the hearse driver did about 50mph…
Everybody who wasnt in the procession passed no bother…
Also when I was driving service buses, I came to a roundabout at the same time as a procession, even though it was my right of way I stopped and offered them to go first though the hearse driver didnt have any of it and let me go first though would have been happy to let everyone go in the procession…

i dont do funerals and aint turning up for my one :sunglasses:
