Happened to me 3 times. 1st time asda falkirk dropped trailer parked top of yard after explaining woke up with trailer next to me. Again asda Dartford just stayed on the bay had my 9 hrs and off in the morning no problem. 3rd time tk max whitwood where you have to drop anyway no probs driver… All 3 times full use of canteen and facilities quieter and more agreeable(is that a word) than truckstops or services. If i had a choice i’d park in tk max every night chille and rice £2.25 and a proper plateful
When I was shunting for Stobbies at Tesco and Reed Boardall, if a visiting driver ran out of time, he’d drop his trailer and go park up. We’d pull it off the bay when it was finished and pop the trailer on the trailer park and put what bay it was in on his notes. I would expect its the same.
However, its not as good as phoning the coppers up and getting them to put chalk marks round your wheels though…
Happened to me once in Tesco, ran out of time on bay, had pre informed the staff and still hadn’t been tipped come time, so i refused to move, they phoned plod, plod escorted me off site and Tesco fined for ■■■■■■ services.
Oh wait, I lied. I’m not a driver - have heard that story somewhere though… probably another bs merchant.
Only ran out of hours a couple of times.
Most memerable was a Matalan RDC, told shunter I was going to have to drop trailer asap and ■■■■ off to park up as I was close to hours, he told me to put it on bay and park near pumps.
1 security guard came and woke me up with “you can’t park here…” told him I was given permission by shunter driver. Then 2 security guards came, told them that if they disturbed me again, I’d assume it was someone trying to break into my truck and will attack them with ‘door closing tool’. No more disturbances all night, but trailer still not tipped in morning ■■ teach driver a lesson??
2nd time was on bay at a docks, just ran over my 15hrs and did a print out, what the ■■■■ you supposed to do■■?
Never had to do that, but have come close to having to, it’s a good way of getting tipped quicker i found, the last time i used it was at rungis market in paris, as it happens i was getting close on my duty time, pulled on the bay, back doors open ready for the 3 pallets of posh veg, and the guy is telling me he on his lunch break,1hr, so i tell him in broken frog speile, that in 30mins time that my tacho/disk will be kaput finshed, then i go to sleep camion stay on bay 11hrs whilst making head on pillow closed eyes gestures, he soon got the hint and decided to load me,lol i would of done it my self, except i did not know what was for me, but it works a treat usually,as the last thing they want is your truck blocking a bay off for upto11 hrs
After reading all this ■■■■■■■■ heres one better, I used to deliver the chalk that the police used to mark round the wheels

Major Fail Sam, you forgot about the free meal and the hotel room
I actually did run out of time in the new ambient tesco at daventry…all I did was keep giving them warnings that I was running out of time then when I ran out just point blank refused to move off the bay …after a lot of arguing with goods in manager depot manager transport manager eventually they agree that I can park opposite the bays and have my time off …no chalk no police no vosa lol
Tesco fenny Lock (MK) they took so long to get me on a bay kept them informed of my time, when they tipped it I was told to park opposite the bays and to nip back in in the morning for gate code and paperwork, no problem
Running out of time at Hinckley Tesco, (before i moved to Hinckley) farmers blocking exit and entry gates.
Got unloaded with 30 minutes to drive to yard but queue was about 30 mins to get out.
Just parked up round back.
I had to go to tesco Huddersfield last week and swap trailers with tramper who was running out of time and they wouldn’t let him in.
(Think the police had ran out of chalk and local hookers night off)
Happened to me at Tesco’s Avonmouth last Christmas.
There was no drama they asked me to drop the trailer on the bay and I parked up and took my daily rest. I went back in the morning to collect the empty trailer that the shunter had moved from the bay and parked up.
No issues and no problems.
Read my post concerning Argos, Bridgewater
The police backed me up for not moving the vehicle untill I had completed my daily rest. Give the staff on the dock warning that your time is up at a certain time and after that time the vehicle will not move.
Down to poor planning to send you to a tip, where they are known for taking their time, near your shift end .
Yes, politely tell GI of your predicament.
If your time is getting close go back to GI and ask if you can drop the trailer & pull out, as Robinhood said. Return for the trailer after your rest period.
Often, if you are polite and reasonable with people, you get the same back.
If you run out of time on a bay you inform your governor so that he can send out a next driver. If the customer or whoever you’re delivering to have anything to say then one of their drivers may move the vehicle and you make a note ‘moved by yard shunter’ on your printout and you should be ok.
You’re govenor shouldn’t make too much noise, after all they are’nt supposed to encourage you to expand the limits.
Just drop a few remarks about forward planning ect and he’ll soon shut the [zb] up
There isn’t any chalk left now… did anyone think about the children ?
