Said it before Mike your wasted driving a truck mate you should be writing comedy scripts.
Bloody brilliant stuff, that man!!!
Well up to par.
Particulary like the the bit where you visited my 'hood - Peterborough.
Your comments remind me of a joke that was doing the text rounds here a couple of weeks back:
‘A new map of the world has been created. Up the top, we have the North Pole, at the bottom we have the South Pole. And every other bloody Pole can be found in Peterborough!’
I just don’t get it!!
Fantastic!
Thanks for giving me a good laugh on a Sunday afternoon (with a screaming hangover! ).
thanks for a great read had a coffee / monitor moment at one point
Enjoyed that. Thanks
Hi Mike, Same as Coffeeholic, the diaries just get better and better.
Your comedy is of the best kind, as it’s based on observations of real life.

Cripes and Scrivens!! What on earth were you expecting for £20?
You’d be lucky to get a hug and a peck on the cheek for that nowadays!
Just a peek would of done me !!!
Hi Mike another great post as usual, are you in that truck all the time? It looks like it’s the one a friend of mine called Rob used to drive, he’s been promoted onto a 105 XF. Where abouts did you take them photos of the tugs? I didn’t think you could get that close to them now days. See VOSA out in force this week, rumours abound that some of your lot have had their collars felt over tacho infringements!

Hi mate, yeah i had that truck since just before xmas and it was Robs truck. (i didn;t know him, Boyce was his name?). I think , or assumed he’d left? I took the snaps when i had to do a timber delivery, i have a load more i;ll probably post them in the pics section as there is some gooduns.
VOSA have been all over our place as you say and lots of drivers have been told to attend Burscough Police Station with a solicitor. But just to dispell any rumours i’ll tell you the type of things they have been questioned and pulled over…
Time sheet says start time 7am, Tacho shows start work and driving at 7.15am. They want the drivers to show on the tacho the missing 15 minutes of ‘other work’. Also some had a missing mileage of 5kilometers, whilst parked at base. We have a night man who does a few box pick upsof a night, they where trying to intimate to the drivers that they had loaded boxes ‘off their card’, even though all the info is available at the port as to who picked them up and at what time. SOme of the drivers are so paranoid they are noting on the back of the tacho where the missing mileage might of gone, me? I’ll look forward to going to Burscough Police station !!!
We have about 60 units and drivers and if anyone doubts the merits of knowing the regs then they need to think again. Top of my head i think about 15 or more drivers had to go the police station.
And i’ll just say, we are not pushed in any way and never rang up or chased. You go out do a collection or delivery and ring in when you’re done, they never quiz you or chase you like you get with some other companies. The trucks are all dealer maintained and we have a guy to do any’ on spot’ defects like a bulb out or a mudguard or summat.
And out of the whole comings and goings out of the port thats what they found. "Intelligence’ hey? !!!
First one to pull me is not only going on here but he’ll get his own facebook page as well !!
Change up a gear and roll on !!!

Hi Mike that night man is a right character you could do a section on here all about him (we’re wondering who’s put the drawing pins in his boots, if you ever see him walking you will know what i mean!!) imho i would say he’s exempt from having to put a card in, as it’s shunting within the docks. I was speaking to Rob last week thought he’d left myself. I know Ian the fitter as well, he and Rob worked at the same company i previously sub contracted too. It’s surprising how the rumour mill rolls down on the docks what starts as VOSA in as part of a routine inspection escalates to Mr Devany has committed mass murder!! Again imho i think it’s borne out of jealousy, some people don’t like it when a company becomes successfull. I’ll keep an eye out for you and say hello, that truck is quite distinctive.
Mike-C:
The other two guys spoke a foreign language or local dialect, i’m not sure which. All i could make out was …“flob a lob a lob”
Right, we have a spy in the camp !!! When i went again to my favourite spot (Willenhall) and went into my favourite boozer, someone had put them on to me!
There was Bill and Ben again. And then i got a shock of my life !!!
"so you’re the clever ■■■■ who put me on the 'net, i’ll give you ‘flob a lob’ "!!
I had to make a run for it, he was taking his jacket off !! Not before i asked for one of the drinks at the bar that they where advertising though !!
While the rest of you may still be welcome, i am barred !!
Pah !! I’m used to roughing it anyway. And on a recent visit to Tescos at Barlborough i noticed this outside.
Funny thing is, i seen and took this snap after i ran out of hours there !! Four hours for a 20foot box? Still, i sleep safe knowing the local residents are watching me.
Now i know there’s loads of old guys on this job who go on about what it was like years ago, different trucks and different drivers who could do this that and the other. I bet they get a shock with some of the up and coming liveried trucks though. Pink !!
I’m loving that last pic. I can imagine the driver ringing up about the job. I’ll bet he never rang with anyone in the same room !! “Hello, is that Pink Link, i’m ringing about the lorry drivers job !!”
I was unfortunate this week to get stuck out on Thursday night, and coming back this morning i was held up by the likes of numpties like this.
I always feel like walking over and giving them a slap and saying “thanks for driving like a ■■■■ and holding us all up for about an hour”, is it just me who thinks like that?
Anyway, before i go. I have learn’t something this week. And that is, don’t jerk the guy about who puts your container on or you end up like this.
Happy Easter Egg to all !!!
Great stuff
