Our new training vehicle

I seem to remember hearing the GAS Volvo’s DHL had were awful. They didn’t go anywhere near as well as on diesel, had numerous problems running on Gas, half the time it wouldn’t work, so they had to run them on Diesel and the diesel tanks were so small they had to fill up twice in a shift quite often.

Not sure if DHL have any more gas powered trucks anymore.

Folks stepping up from the warehouse who’ve been there a while and have a good attitude plus 1 from the office who also meets the criteria.

Fair enough that,
Iv applied 5 times 3 times for cdc and never heard a thing and twice fir xdc but 1st time job turned out to be part time and second time the shift pattern was shocking 12-4pm starts,
Been hunting for supermarket work with an early am start for a few years now

Unfortunately early am starts are like gold dust, soon as someone retires next in line moves earlier and so on. New guys will pretty much always get the afternoon starts, night guys have 18.00 on sewn up. I lucked into an 08.45 start, was one 02.45 going as well but too early for me. Anything between 04.00 and 07.00 is wait your turn while the 20yr plus guys retire.

As Bald Bloke says, we are doing the warehouse to driving apprenticeships, 4 new guys beginning of the year, another 6 will be ready in the new year. I doubt very much wether we will be recruiting from outside for a while with the warehouse guys coming driving and we have some solid regular agency that could be invited to apply. Thats the way I got in, proved myself on agency and got on full time.

The new Volvos have been designed to run on gas rather than being a conversion, which the earlier 62 plate ones were, hence the problems. Even running at 40t+ there is no noticeable difference in pulling power and because the gearboxes have been ‘tweaked’ they change at the correct times.

Bald bloke, we’ve got some of your cast off 68 plate 4 wheelers at Wakefield.

Apparently they were sent to out to a lot of different depots, I apologise for the state some are in but none of it was my doing
