As we’re on the subject of nature pics here, I’ve been reading about Spitsbergen (have a look on the map - waaaaaay north of the arctic circle), and the port of Longyearbyen. I was browsing the other day on the web when I came across this amazing website, about the port and the island.
The following link is a set of pictures of the northern lights as seen at Longyearbyen - I’ve heard about them but I’ve never seen them myself so I loved this.
The other pics are worth a look too; there are about 3 months of darkness here, and boy does it look cold…there are whales, polar bears and the port itself.
