Closing down the only truck stop in the area to build a logistics park, that will most likely be deemed private property, not allow or provide any parking but will happily rent out units to customers who will require servicing by lorries 24/7.
So once again, it’s a case of build more industrial units, but don’t think about the parking for lorries servicing them.
The article might say that the plans included onsite parking, but I think we can all say this is not for HGVs it’s for workers.

For a major international deep sea port, the lack of facilities for drivers is disgraceful .
Sadly a U.K. wide phenomenon. Worst country in Europe to drive a truck
England one from top easy country for driving. Here no snow,no ice,no strong uphill, downhill, easy motorway map.Can buy good food at services st Mark@Spencer.

Parking is as essential to a haulage company as fuel is.
I’m assuming that you’re a haulier mate? If so that’s an extremely refreshing statement to hear. So so many companies either refuse to accept that and price accordingly or just leave drivers to their own devices and then ■■■■■ and moan when they receive the inevitable parking fines or suffer trailer curtain damage.
Yep We run a small (now growing again) fleet of trucks from Norfolk and one of our drivers is in Orwell 5 nights a week. Parking cost is what parking cost is. Sure cheaper than having a driver attacked or getting £500 of fuel nicked every night
some places are about £28 but i would rather the driver pays £28 and gets 2 miles up the road than tries to worry about saving himself money and parks in a layby and we lose a £10k load. He can rest, freshen up and get some decent grub which isnt cooked in the microwave (sometimes )
I know this is an old statement but wouldn’t it be nice for all operators to think of their drivers like this, top man

Well we’re not in agreement clearly. Just having a lack of snow and no big hills doesn’t make a country good. I’d rather drive over the Alps in winter ten times before I’d do one U.K. run.

You have to drive a fork of a long way to get to a country as bad as the UK for parking & roadside food.
Afghanistan is the first country going East that’s worse than the UK,
Going South I would guess Mauritania or Mali, although the food is probably better.
