I wonāt use it again , would go over driving time to go somewhere else that likes humans then write on the print out " Truckstop full up, and did not like the smell coming out of the tall chimneys and may not survive the showers ."
A butty van is no good for working drivers .
Work 15 hours, you need nutritional food .
Not what kids eat at a fun fair .

I stopped there for a 45 minute break, of what I saw, the main building was open for the loo and showers .
There was a catering van that does Scampi and chips and burgers .
About six lorries had penalty tickets on the windscreens .
The truck accessories shop was still there.
And lots of signs warning to pay for parking .
Ow yes things have gotten worse there since your last visit and I bet they will continue to get much worse in the future
Ā£18 overnight parking
Can not purchase a shower token with out parking over night
No bar or restaurant, just a butte van
Toilets and showers not 24hr
No manager on site 24/7 to complain to (punch his lights out)
If I where you I would not do another 45min there again unless you wish to vandalise the place
Iāve been in there a number of times since the new owners have taken over. Not had any issues with getting a Ā£3 shower. Last time I was in there, they were doing some work inside to create three smaller eating areas serving different types of food (according to the guy behind the counter any ways).
I recently popped into Orwell and did struggle to find out how long I could park there for free, but due to the amount of words on the cowboy parking notices I lost interest.
Anyway a rather helpful security bod from distant shores said it was 45mins.
Canāt be right as to take a 45 I would need more than 45mins from entry to exit so will ask again next time the mood takes me.
I do like a shower there though as a lot are very nice, bit of a posh wash stylee.
Iāve christened all of them for anyone whoās interest.
As far as comparing truckers to the oppressed Jewās in WW2, I struggle with the analogy a bit as even in the dark days I havenāt found myself hiding in the attic doing a diary during my weekly rest.
Oh well each to their own.
Tom youād get on well with our member Bking he loves holocaustial stuff.
Parked here a few weeks ago and its obviously not what it used to beā¦however
It was quiet and the showers were clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. 2 minutes walk and your in a Miller and Carter steak house which was very nice. I can think of much worse places to park

My 2 pence worth. First night in here since it was taken over. The guy is literally contracting everything out. Parking, cleaning, food (burger van). And if I was a betting man Iād agree with Kev. It was like a ghost town up until about 8. 10 trucks or so. About 35 now. Heās kicked out all the contract parking, which has deprived him of at least a couple of grand a week, and is now charging an incredible Ā£9 for a shower, saying he was losing money at Ā£3
I think he plans on going to the council when the numbers are down to a dozen a night, to prove itās not viable as a truck park anymore. Then heāll whack up some warehouses and sell it on.

Instead of the Ā£100 ish a day he would have been taking at Ā£3 a shower, he is now taking ā ā ā ā all because no one in their right mind is going to pay Ā£9 for a shower. Agree with you jay, run it in to the ground, then cry because no one is using it and apply for planning permission to change the use of the ground and resell it. Hope he gets stuck with it the greedy barsteward.
chester1:
Id lay money thd wont get any permission for a change of use or to build on it .
Apparantly Ipswich council have already told him that they will object to any change of use planning application, but like has been said, he appears to be trying to run it into the ground and use the argument that itās not viable any more.
I have been told that it is a designated truck stop and as such the powers that be will not let it be use for any thing else. How true this is, I donāt know.
The first thing he did was give all the o licence holders their marching orders, denying himself about Ā£1500 a week. Considering heās contracted everything out, youād have thought heād have loved having them there. And jacking the showers up to Ā£9, giving up another Ā£500 a week. I think that tells you all you need to know about his plans.

They doubled the price per spot from £40 + vat Pw to £80 + vat pw.
They intend to charge not only for spaces used but per āunitā.
A lorry = a unit.
A trailer = a unit.
Nominated spots, such as mine to pay 3 months in advance.
That comes at at around £7500.
All this while my 3 month notice period was completely ignored.
We received a letter with all this in on Saturday 20th August.
They commenced trading Monday 22nd August.
Very unprofessional and arrogant company.
Not a fan, tbh.

I totally agree mate. It seems he slung all you boys on your uppers whilst making it look like you walked. As I said, for somebody who loves to contract everything out, seems strange how heās thrown out around Ā£1500 a week. Iāve stopped parking there, I wonāt be the reason any money gets in his pocket. Heās the sort of bloke thatās ruining the industry, and although Iām playing into his hands as he wants to run it down, I wonāt be giving him a penny along the way. Heās going to do what he wants, and I wonāt have someone rubbing my nose in it by taking my money as they kill another part of the job

Oh, I donāt know. If the local council are anything like my local council, a fat brown envelope passed under the table in a quiet pub will work wonders.

That could be any council any where, in my opinion theyāre all at it,no matter what colour their politics.
Tom Cobbles:
They decide to take the road haulage attitude; I have always said that the road haulage industry is like ā ā ā ā Germany,
everyone ells in the industry is a member of the ā ā ā ā party and the driver is the Jew
in that case I certainly wonāt be going for a shower there then.
