One for TNCSI..

You literally are by far and away the most humorless man I’ve ever encountered. Stop being such a snowflake and lighten up, life doesn’t have to be as miserable as you seem to make it.

#PeaceBeWithYou

I didnt think Carryfast was an actual truck driver.
Always assumed he was one of those eddie stobart truck spotters.

This is how I pictur carryfast.

When he talks about driving trucks I always assumed he was referring to his toy model trucks.

Also UPS doesnt run its international freight through barking anymore. Goes through its Stanford-le-Hope / London Gateway hub now.

The point was if I was a bridge basher I’d have got my record during my first 5 years in the job and the bridge/s in question would have known they’d been hit. :unamused:

As for my ‘career’ plenty of it matched the opening scene of Il Bestione and that paid for even better holiday foreign road trips it doesn’t get much better than that.

No the original point was- It’s. A. Joke. :unamused: No one seriously claimed you were a bridge basher or involved. Stop always being so desperate to be offended. If I was offended by jokes made about me I’d be a basket case. So many people take ■■■■ out of me, that’s keep giving them material is neither here nor there  It’s the way this job is, always has been hopefully always will be

Great it was supposedly a ‘joke’ then put some emos with it along the lines of :smiling_imp:   .

Emos you say?

   Poor Carry. I know I love to take the ■■■■ and wind him up, usually because it’s like shooting fish in a barrel but he and others may be surprised to learn I actually feel really sorry for him. I think we wanted similar things from our careers- basically working for a good company driving internationally and the fact he never did does make me sad as I can imagine how down it would get me in his position. It’s even worse for him as his career was during the heady days of a very large British international transport industry, whereas I had to go to Holland and Ireland to get my fix. And he’s a commended driver whereas I’m a blasé moron who’s history involves driving FH16’s and R and S730/620/560’s which must also annoy him. I think we all
would be bitter in his place

Yep the bitter irony of me breaking my back handballing artics at the hub as a UPS ‘feeder driver’ taken from being a trunk driver while you went galavanting around Europe, or at least Paris, doing what was left of our subbed out international line haul that the plane didn’t take.I’m surprised at actually how bitter I’m not about it all and can still laugh at the job and still be grateful for the good bits.
You obviously also missed the irony in me being commended for my service and driving record but disciplined for my reluctance as a warehouse operative/loader/unloader during the supposed ‘heady days’ of a very large British international transport industry. The truth is you’re around a decade or more out and even then it was still a face fits lottery between ending up as a tipper driver or driving an artic or drawbar to the Middle East.

Thank you for your service ■■■

Only joking btw Carryfast.
You ever considered coming out of retirement?

Let’s just say if UPS ever said sorry would you like to get back behind the wheel of a drawbar outfit again on Line Haul not Feeders I’d like nothing better than to to give it a go until I’m 65.
It might even save me having to equity release the house to survive before I snuff it.
Unfortunately in the real world the circumstances, which put me out of the job in the first place before the age of 50, probably say no chance. :frowning:

You’re under 65?! :open_mouth:

Tesco work would suit you so well.
Not the fridge stuff though. Really easy gig

66 or 67 for your State pension isn’t it?

Would it? He’s allergic to helping with unloading! Do you not have to unload with ambient now? My recent Tesco experience has been fridges not done ambient for 15 years probably, down at Welham Green and it was driver unload then

As for UPS subbies, as we were, at least weren’t even allowed in the warehouse let alone help unload. We used to do a run into Europe to a frankly enormous UPS hub but I can’t for life of me remember where so waiting on my Dad name it if he can

Carryfast:
equity release

The next…

Mis-selling scandal which will flare up like a very nasty rash in about ten years time.

Independant radio and afternoon TV will be playing back to back adverts starting with ‘were you sold an equity release plan?’

Franglais:

Yes you’re right but I’d obviously stop working on the last shift of the last day of my 65th year regardless so no big deal.Having said that if everyone was happy I wouldn’t mind going on a bit longer.

That’s why I said line haul/trunking.
Not driving a few miles up the road to a hub or an RDC or shops.Thereby setting myself up for another bunch of management zb’s wanting me to work in a warehouse tipping and loading artics, rather than pay me to sit watching tele on POA.Oh and I’ve obviously never been allergic to a bit of hard work.Which is why I’m in this situation of a busted back by the age of 40 remember. :unamused:

Remind me how much loading and unloading did you do on that Paris run ?.
Let me guess about as much as Barking line haul drivers did at the Nuneaton hub when they had to go there.Unlike me. :imp:

You do have to help unload a little I guess.
But ambient is a lot easier than fridge work.
Fridge can be a pain at Tesco because they keep filling you up with waste cages every time you tip.

Tesco is a decent gig though. Your just pushing Cages. With a lot of waiting. I done a run which was 2 miles from the RDC. It took 3 hours. They didn’t even ask what took so long lol.

You know it sure does help if you read comments before replying. Since you didn’t I’ll try again-

Also not sure where this Paris thing of yours comes from, we mostly did Germany, from Tamworth

Absolutely, I’ve always enjoyed doing a spot of supermarket work, well mostly. My first shift on agency all those years ago was Iceland Enfield, 3 stores round London in an absolutely filthy WendyHouse. But like everything I’ve done I’ve enjoyed it because I need variety to stave off boredom. And yes they have a VERY easy going attitude when it came to time. They certainly don’t rush you!
