Guy Martin - awesome geezer. It’s the sideburns, you know.

No wonder there’s a Limitor on our Man

Did he borrow an irish motor for the test?

Yes I thought it was good. On again [repeat] Channel 4. 1/4/14 at 19.00. The second series on 5/1/14 Channel 4 20.00. HTH.

When you go to watch truck racing, they give you a load of specs, and they say that 0-60 is quicker than a Porsche 911, and they’re limited to 100mph because of the weight of them, if things go wrong the barriers have been tested upto 100mph - so taking the limiter off is interesting - guessing it was re-geared too though because if you’re limited to 100mph, you’d have it geared to be flat out not much above that for the quickest acceleration ?

See the way it pulled when it was over 100mph though, jeez :grimacing:

Used to go to the truck racing and one year at the Nurburgring was shown and given the full spec of Steve Parrish’s truck.
There are 2 classes and the top class are mega expensive to build and nothing like your everyday truck. All lowered, highly tuned engine and water cooled brakes.Like comparing a Mini to a formula one car really.
Anyway never mind the truck…what about doing 112mph on a bicycle!
Guy Martin works as an LGV mechanic as a day time job and is a professional motorcycle racer too.
Top bloke…and there’s more next sunday!

I used to race against Guys brother Stu years ago, unbelievably quick rider but I never worried when he passed me 'cos I could always hear the sound of a crash trying to get out from him and his bike! Sure enough he’d end up up close and personal with the barriers before long. Guy used to come down and knock the wreckage straight and send him back out next race. Pair of top geezers.

Would love to meet the guy and have a pint, bet he’s a reet good craic.

My parents live down that neck of the woods, but never seen him out and about

I see he is the only cyclist that gains admiration on TN, so remember when he overtakes you on his cycle to ease off a few clicks

Seriously though I thought he was going to go for it on the test run, he clocked over 100mph on that :open_mouth:

I thought the sand would have been a disadvantage being soft and causing drag and wider tyres, though better for traction would have caused more drag too?
Or was it just a case as no where with the required length of tarmac to do the record on?

No but rumor has it when the race truck topped out at 120 he flashed in a Scania with a Norfolk line trailer heading for the boat.

pmsl.

Them Irish Scannies come with the unique “hidden” switch known as “Ferry Mode”

The programme would have been improved if they let us see more of Laura Trott, imagine her nice bum doing a ton.

Got it on the planner, not yet watched. If you like Guy Martin and/or bikes it’s well worth tracking down a copy of TT3D: Closer To The Edge. Some awesome footage and a great watch in 3D or normal.

Boy can ride, but can he win the TT?

Great programme, much better than the rest of the tripe that has been on over the festive period.

Expect to see some commuter cyclists doing this behind buses and trucks soon.

Great programme, awesome top bloke. Respect.
Paul

Just watched the second one, hydroplane bike for 60 metres+. That bloke is mad, but a great programme.
Just shows what abuse an engine can take and still work!
Cheers
Paul

That’s quite a collection, sonflower! Please tell me that the pushbike is a Marin Team Ti.
