I feel running with a headlight out is providing a service. It gives people an opportunity to moan about it on forums. You’re welcome*.

*My n/s headlight . If I get stopped has been out for a couple of weeks, I’ve got a spare and I’ll get round to changing it when I can be arsedits only just gone and I’m looking for a safe place to change it for the spare I have in the centre console officer.

not your best plan :frowning: mate of mine got pulled for a rear light out , 5.30 am on his road to work . thanks for telling me he says ,ive got a spare in the glovebox I can change it now. sorry sir , heres your ticket you are required to take your car to a garage get it fixed and this form filled in and stamped to say its been done then present it at the station . it cost him £10 for fitting a bulb and a further £12 admin fee for stamping the ticket plus the hassle of trailing to the station with the damned thing . this was a few years ago but I doubt its changed .

My son has his own vehicle workshop so the fitting and stamping won’t cost me anything. :stuck_out_tongue:

Aaah, yes, my number one top-of-the-list pet hate. I’ve got another name for them though.

Next time you’re counting, see how many are French - you’ll be amazed; they don’t seem to be able to make a bulb that lasts longer than a week!

I must say, though, that some headlight bulbs can be a nightmare to change - ever tried a Focus NS? Or a VW Sharan?

Focus was easier removing the headlight - only 4 bolts.

Renault Meganes were the worst, an “inspection slot” in the wheel arch about the size of a credit card, or take the front bumper off!

Yep, Mrs has a Megane and it’s a bumper off jobbie

Mrs is called Megan, and you take her Jumper off - who’s Bobbie? - Oh dear - wrong specs on again??

It’s frustrating that there are no traffic police about to stop them.

On the other side of the coin, I was coming home from Accrington tonight, towards Oldham, and between Pilsworth and Simister Island, I passed a White unmarked DAF Tractor unit running solo, with the whole of it’s rear O/S lights out in the pitch black. How did the driver not notice this on his pre trip inspection. On the N/S/R lights there are two side lights on the cluster, so he I don’t think he has an excuse .

How did you manage to not collide with such a poorly lit vehicle? . . . . oh the drama.

Don’t be such a ■■■, it was driving down with heavy rain, and no lightning on this stretch of motorway. Not a drama for me, but could be for a less experienced driver. Quite simply, he shouldn’t be on the road with no offside rear lights.

Thing i always do is replace the opposite bulb at the same time. as you can bet your life that one will go within days of the other being replaced.

I’ve noticed a marked in crease in ‘one light vehicles’ over the few months, not only out in the sticks , but on the motorways too. I counted six one headlamp large vehicles coming down the motorway one night , all one behind the other !!

The ones that get me are the morons who run with no rear lights. I’ve seen quite a few with no tail lights and no brake lights either.

I saw one on the M4 with no lights at all on the back, the light fittings themselves were dangling on the wires !

Normally a toyota corolla with beaded seat and some sort of private hire plate somewhere.

You want to give those guys a wide berth, usually our dusky cousins hoping to crash for cash.
