Me I would take the Foden  .

Aye it would have to be mickey mouse for me to, I wish I had kept the one I had, it was a great piece of gear, never any problems to cause me a lot of expence. It used to sail through the MOT, the handbrake ? could be a problem but if one new how to doctor it up It worked perfectley, Of course I used to get a lot of gen from Fodens fitters at CTS,Favourdale Darlington, very helpful lads nowt was a bother to them, Sadley its all bloody gone now. Regards Larry.

As a tipper driver the Foden’s were always a good tipper, but never saw many AEC’s as tippers either the Park Royal model or the Ergo cabbed models.
Cheers Dave.

As I say Larry,we never seemed to have many operators running AEC’s in this area.I don’t doubt that they were a good lorry.Possibly the reason was that there wasn’t a dealer for them in the surrounding counties.
Cheers Dave.

Aye you a probabley right, But I still prefered the old Foden, with a gear for every hill, I drove a Mk 5 AEC, Good old bit of gear, but Foden was & still is my fave, Regards Larry.

Always been a lot of Fodens in this area. This firm Sharples from Eardisley,Herefordshire had two new Fodens every year back in the 50’s through to the 70’s.They packed up about three years ago due to the falling rates. This one was about twenty years old when this photo was taken for a truck magazine.
Cheers Dave.
