hiya,
Norm, a spot of battling was good for you, a battered mush made you look
as if you was a hard man and would make the ladies wonder what sort of a
mess you’d made of your opponent, I never could run anyway.
thanks harry, long retired.

I thought you said you wasn’t a fighter in a previous post Harry.Norm is bringing the pugilist out in you. :open_mouth:
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Never went looking for bother Dave, but it did have a knack of finding me
usually a young lady involved, and I was nobody’s punchbag, will have won
as many as I’ve lost, nowadays would have a job punching my way out of a
council bin-liner.
thanks harry, long retired.

I have to come clean Harry.I didn’t always watch, have been involved in a few scraps as a young lad,but nothing to nasty.
I still preferred watching.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Personally I think, when as a young lad it was normal to have done a bit
of battling if only a bit of fun fighting with your school pals the odd sore
nose and shiner were part and parcel of growing up, sometimes these do’s
got a bit more than fun though, usually one of us trying to prove that we
were top dog, don’t forget I did a bit of my early growing up in Bootle and
if you had two ears you were a ■■■■.

Harry can you remember Carman Mirander, with her platform shoes & here fruit basket head ware, I can ,she had a loveley dark brown ■■■■ voice, I got me quite aroused when I was a lad, Sitting in the Reno Cinema at Wideopen on a cheap night in the dog end as it was called in those days, it was 5 Pennies to get in Tues/Thurs nightd only, OOH WHAT NIGHTS THEY WERE EH, Regards Larry.

Larry as a youg lad, I was not too sure if she was female.   eye, eye , eye I like you very much, eye, eye, eye I think your grand! :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:

Well her threpney bits looked very real to me, but I suppose looks can be decieving Eh, Regards Larry.

Here she is.I see she was only 46 when she died in 1955.

46, & never been trashed, just like me, Ha.Ha. I wish, Regards Larry

On 4 August 1955, Miranda suffered a heart attack during a segment of the live NBC television series, The Jimmy Durante Show. After completing a dance number (which was later aired on A&E Network’s Biography episode about Miranda), she fell to her knees, and Durante instinctively told the band to “stop da music!”. He helped Miranda up to her feet as she laughed, “I’m all out of breath!”. “Dat’s OK, honey, I’ll take yer lines”, Durante replied. Miranda laughed again and quickly pulled herself together, finishing the show. At the end of the broadcast, she smiled and waved, then exited the stage. She died later that night after suffering a second heart attack at her home in Beverly Hills.

In accordance with her wishes, Miranda’s body was flown back to Rio de Janeiro where the Brazilian government declared a period of national mourning. 60,000 people attended her mourning ceremony at the Rio town hall, and more than half a million Brazilians escorted the funeral cortège to her resting place. She is buried in the Cemitério São João Batista in Rio de Janeiro

the self same above picture on my bedroom wall when I was
just a kid before the clip I seem to recollect him calling me
a dirty little devil and looking at pictures like that would make
me go blind, I didn’t go blind but have been lumbered wearing
glasses from an early age, so he could’ve been right.

I have to admit Carmen Miranda was a bit before my time.Looking at the photo of her she was a smart woman.
The likes of Lulu and Dusty Springfield were more my era.Cilla Black was around, but I never rated her much.
Tina Turner was/is a ■■■■ woman cor. :open_mouth:
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Never rated Cilla and Dusty but Lulu was/is quite a looker and Tina who I haven’t
seen/heard for ages was always my type of woman, “Simply the best”. do have a
CD of Tina’s in the jam-jar which gets quite a bit of wellie.
