The number & grade of bolts depends upon the “D” factor or Drawbar Value which will be stamped into the the manufacturer’s plate attached to the 5th wheel or the slider. This will be a Minimum of 8 M16x1.5 grade 8.8 bolts with a recommendation to use 12 10.9 grade bolts.
Formula D= 9.81x {(0.6xTxR) / (T+R-U)}
R = max GVW trailer T = Max GVW tractor unit U = Max imposed load on kingpin
