Old North East haulage companies (Part 1)

The AEI as its called now, Im sure when I first went in there in the 50s, it was Henley Cables ?, I did get in there (AEI) When I worked for Ken Short 68/72ish, we used to deliver to the Yorkshire Pits sometimes 10 drops but there was allways MT,Cable drums to bring back, Regards Larry.

Half a Dozen Seddons from the Fifties.

Great stuff F Troop, I remember them, also there was a Vulcan or two in those days, any pictures of them ■■< Regards Larry.

This is the only photo i can find at the moment with a Vulcan on., I drove a one myself

Thank you F.Troop, I know one of them was a tipper, my Uncle from Seaton Burn bought it off Eddie Ferguson, The brakes were a bit dodgey on those old Vulcans, I drove a one myself at Baxters GUP 670 just on local mind you just as well, poor braking system was no good for journey work, Im sure it ended up at Harry Nichols at Gateshead being used to deliver coal, Happy Days, Regards Larry.

P.S. I forgot to mention thats when Nichols wagons were painted red in those days, Regards Larry.

Hi ftroop. This is an excellent photo of the Staithes that ran along Low Quay, I remember the coal trucks being shunted at all times of day and night in the late 1940s and early 50s as they lined up over the coal chutes loading colliers for London , Shoreham and Poole power stations plus other destinations. I bet there are no coal trimmers employed in Blyth these days.
