hiya,
Looks very much like it Larry did get in there once or twice when Consett BRS depot
was running Hexham depot just prior to the Hexham operation being closed, their
depot was just along the way from Egger’s and had the haulage contract.
thanks harry, long retired.

Are elldis units knocked down to 50 or are the drivers steady away

Elldis are set to 52mph.

andrewv8:
Elldis are set to 52mph.

Probabley they get more miles to the gallon at this speed, Some years ago before speed limiters were introduced the fellow that owned Waugh Road Services at that time told his drivers to keep to 56/57. MPH, now this fellow called Bob Kinghorn was a wiz kid with figures & everything he did was spot on, So perhaps with motors now running at 44 Tonne & pulling longer trailers, & their much more powerful engines it makes good sence IMO, Regards Larry.

Well I would say that’s a good result, When I look back to the days when I had a 8 wheeler Foden , 150 Gardner running at 24 ton gross doing 10/11 MPG things have certainly progressed haven’t they, Regards Larry.

Just as a point of interest, the new Mercs (2013s) at Port of Tyne are limited to 52 and they consistently get 10 mpg. That’s much better than the Volvos on the same work.

Still earning its keep, Regards Larry.
