That not good

Apparently burnt to the ground
Iâll try and find out more on Monday what happened here, the centre pic shows one of our new Volvo Specialist units that deals with chemical/explosive incidents etc. The warehouse would no doubt have been filled with all kinds of potential toxic and dangerous goods so nobody would have been sent inside to deal with this, just a case of protecting other properties and letting the fire burn itself out, hence not a lot would be left. Not good! Franky.
Does anyone remember a company from Hexham called W Martin Oliver, they had around 100 red MANâs.

I believe that they had two depots at Bardon Mill one either side of the A69.

Not one of the better examples of transport companies in this area. kevmac47
Seems the fire at Ramage started through a Forklift battery charger, the staff tried to deal with it themselves but by the time they realised they couldnât and rang 999 it was too late, at least no one was hurt but not a lot left of the place. Franky.

night shift bri:
Staffords are still in business aswell, just round the corner from Ritchies. They must both do work for the secret service, you never seem to see them tipping or loading anywhere.Staffords used to load out of Domtar paper mill at Grangetown years ago when I worked at Smith & Dixons, was running green & white Fiats. The only time Iâve seen any of Ritchies motors is at the classic motor shows and steam rallies.
Hi night shift bri, I used to work for staffords, both back when they had the fiats, and between 2003 and 2008. Great times back when running domtar paper working for milburn stafford and great money too. Used to spend 2 or 3 nights a week in Bristol parked in cannons marsh and go to the grapes pub and on to the mecca until 1 & 2 in the morning.
They now work out of hetton lyons ind est running contiboard and other work.Great memories.

Often had a night out with Gornalls drivers when I worked for mc governs on the bricks in the mid eighties. I still see Jeff Breward at the vintage truck shows now and then. Sadly I think big big Alan was killed on the M1 a few years ago, he was known to everyone as âClatter.â Dont quite know whether it was because his false teeth made such a racket, or the fact that he had the loudest voice I had ever heard.
Hi kevmac47, Not long been on the site. Noticed you worked for McGoverns in the mid eighties. I was there from 85 until 90 when all artic men were made redundant. There were some good lads on there, like John Codling, Chris Brown, Jimmy the brick, to name a few. Donât know if you knew but the foreman Alan OâHare passed away a few weeks ago, sad news as I knew him from childhood, having been from the same village.
