Some cracking pictures from scaniavabis -530
keep em coming
Just wondering if any of you can help me, I’m trying to remember a firm my grandad pulled for 30+ years ago and get hold of a picture if possible… The picture I remember seeing as a young lad he drove a blue and white volvo with a tanker?? I’m sure my mum said he carried lard??
The picture was taken July 1981… And apparently he was the first hgv to cross the Humber bridge… The picture was out of the local paper I believe
Thanks chaps
Just spoke to my mum she recalls p&o?

If you can get into the Hull History Centre they have all of the Hull Daily Mail on microfilm knowing the date should make finding the article easy enough

0I’m determined to keep this thread on the front page
JAG 77Y was the first ever factory built 6x2 in England. It was bought off the Motor show stand. it was like a rocking horse when it was empty it didnt have much drive. It was sold and bought by Derek Moore at Market Weighton how had it stolen from his yard. it was found not many years ago on a island top of Scotland as a ridgid.

Thanks spud1960,
Good memories of the Lord Mayors Parade / student rag , filmed at the corner of Queens rd, Princes ave, I now live just down Victoria ave close to there.
Some good shots of old Hull haulage companies,
I drove one of our ERF rigids on the parade when I was TM at Engineering & Welding Supplies, with a load of kids & teachers on the back from the school where my wife worked.

Thanks for the memories Spud.
I remember all the names of the tanker lads but only Jack Hopper from the flats.I would love to see the group photo if you can find it, email it me if you don’t want to put it on the forum.
Were you a driver there in those days, if so I must have come across you at some stage.
I used to go into BP regularly from Shell Stanlow from 1970 until 1977 then I was on the BP contract for about 10 or 11 years after that.
We used to lodge up Spring Bank until we got the High Datum Roadtrains and then we started using the sleeper cabs on Park Street. There was a good boozer near by where we were well fed and watered.
On the odd Friday of I was staying out I would park in BP yard and go with one of Bulk’s drivers to the Country and Western night at a Club between Saltend and Paull.Russell.
Hi Spud I used to work in the garage at bulk, and I have the original photo of the F12,s great photo also got a photo of the Fiat,s great place to work and a lot of laughs cheers
Anyone remember this Hull-registered ERF ‘European’ in the '70s? Possibly an owner driver - possibly a Ted Croswell. It later went to PG Horridge in Poole. Robert

Thank you for your response. When researching old lorry histories, a nil-return is far better than no return at all! Bless you.
Cheers, Robert
Can’t find any info about the Hull reg ERF European. But I’ll keep asking around for you Robert. I’ll be home at weekend, I’ll ask sum of the older guys. Someone must remember that ERF.
