G814WFU was one of a batch of ten which all came new with ten new trailers. G814-818 & G951-955.
Some of these finished up getting trashed on Liverpool docks while based there moving coal from ship to store. I think the lorry in the picture was driven by Billy Atkin from Scunthorpe.

Remember those scanias getting mullered at liverpool, only 2\3 yrs old at the time, tipping on stockpile by alexander dock, think few went over as well

That’s right Pete, initially they tried to send drivers from this side over for a week at a time but that didn’t last long. Some very strange things took place in the early nineties !!

Yes Pete, he sold out in the late 80’s to what I believe was a consortium of Gleadells and Bannerman from Scotland. All gleadells lorries joined the fleet to begin with but only the Scanias stayed and then painted blue. They were D reg 6x2 tags with tandem axle bulkers. At the time them lorries were sent to Liverpool the company was been run by bean counters with many customers returning to peter now running the red lorries. Shortly afterwards they sold the business to H S Roe Lincoln.
