Oh, and sell the company products too

the maoster:
If an element of your job involves selling your company or its services and you get paid some sort of comission then fair enough. If however you are expected to do this as part of your normal duties then ■■■■ it up. Very few employers will employ you out of the goodness of their hearts, they do it for one reason and one reason only, and that is to generate revenue for them. If anyone struggles with that concept then I’d suggest that maybe they aren’t quite ready to work in the grown up world.

I’d also suggest that if anybody begrudges any employer financially benefitting from an employees labours then maybe they should try strapping on a pair, starting their own business and reaping the rewards of their own labours.

I remember when I worked on tippers, saving my then employer around £3000 on tipping fees by finding him a free tip (legitimate). My reward for helping out to that extent - an extra fiver in my wage packet the following week which was then taxed… :imp:

The way I see this particular job, is the driver will build up the round, then some faceless rep with get commission ad infinitum while the hapless driver is the one mauling the heavy bottles around. For HGV driver - see complete sap…

Maybe it’s because I have a background in sales, but tbh stuff like that seems pretty natural to me. Remember it’s the customers that pay your wages when it boils down to it, and if you can get enough business you may be able to reduce the amount of deliveries you do, which is never a bad thing imo.

Delivering foodstuff at the moment I do it as often as possible, notice a customer is using a product we can supply and remind them we can deliver it, and we’re already there. I’ve increased some customers orders quite a lot by doing this.

For HGV driver - see complete sap…

Only if you let that happen Liberty. I have never felt taken advantage of in my life. Standing up for yourself, doesn’t have to mean being unhelpful.
